The article highlights the course of long-term SARS-CoV-2 infection in a patient with a secondary immunodeficiency developed with B-cell-depleting therapy of the underlying disease. Analysis of the intrapatient virus evolution revealed an inpatient S:G75A mutation that alters the 72GTNGTKR78 motif of the S-protein, with a possible role in binding to alternative cellular receptors. Therapy with a ready-made COVID-19-globulin preparation (native human immunoglobulin G (IgG) derived from the plasma of convalescent COVID-19-patients) resulted in rapid improvement of the patient's condition, fast, and stable elimination of the virus, and passive immunization of the patient for at least 30 days.

The myocardium of children with tetralogy of Fallot (TF) undergoes hemodynamic overload and hypoxemia immediately after birth. Comparative analysis of changes in the ploidy and morphology of the right ventricular cardiomyocytes in children with TF in the first years of life demonstrated their significant increase compared with the control group. In children with TF, there was a predominantly diffuse distribution of Connexin43-containing gap junctions over the cardiomyocytes sarcolemma, which redistributed into the intercalated discs as cardiomyocytes differentiation increased.

In the scientific literature, one can find conflicting assumptions about the presence of «proper mental bone» and «upper and lower lingual canals», which make up a separate ossified area in the chin of the mandible and the system of blood supply and innervation. However, calling these lesions «lingual canals» or «incisal canals», as is often found in various articles, is incorrect based on the position of International Anatomical Terminology. This is due to the lack of topographic reference in the term, which can equally be understood as the canal of the tongue, the neurovascular bundle of the same name, and the root canal system of the teeth of the lower jaw and can also be associated with the maxilla.

COVID-19 is an acute respiratory viral disease that primarily affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs, including the kidneys. Damage to the kidneys can be caused by direct effects arising from the invasion of the virus into kidney cells, or it occurs secondarily due to immunological, hemocoagulation and ischemic disorders. Given the importance of preserving kidney function during illness and after recovery, this review aims to investigate the impact of novel coronavirus infection on the kidney and its role in the development of acute kidney injury.

Despite the differences in the clinical manifestations of major obstetric syndromes, such as preeclampsia (PE) and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), their pathogenesis is based on the dysregulation of proliferation, differentiation, and invasion of cytotrophoblast cells that occur in the developing placenta, decidual endometrium, and myometrial parts of the spiral arteries. To understand the similarities and differences in the molecular mechanisms of PE and IUGR, samples of the placental bed and placental tissue were analyzed using protein mass spectrometry and the deep sequencing of small RNAs, followed by validation of the data obtained by quantitative RT-PCR in real time. A comparison of the transcriptome and proteomic profiles in the samples made it possible to conclude that the main changes in the molecular profile in IUGR occur in the placental bed, in contrast to PE, in which the majority of molecular changes occurs in the placenta.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound methods used for the diagnosis of an abnormally invasive placenta (AIP) have a wide range of sensitivity (Se, 33-93%) and specificity (Sp, 71-100%) levels, which results in a high risk of unfavorable maternal and perinatal outcomes. The relevance of optimizing the diagnosis of AIP is beyond doubt. Given the epigenetic nature of trophoblast invasion, we aimed to quantitate microRNAs and proteins of their target genes that are potentially associated with AIP in blood plasma samples from 64 pregnant women at gestation weeks 30-34 by reverse transcription coupled with polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western blotting, respectively.
