Department of Pediatrics, Zhujiang Hospital, First Military Medical University, Guangzhou 510282, China.

Objective: To establish a neonatal rat model of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and clarify the changing features of neural stem cells (NSCs) in episodes of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) so as to provide experimental and theoretical evidences for treating HIE by applying NSCs at the appropraite time.

Methods: Totally 210 neonatal rats aged 7 d were divided randomly into three groups, normal control group, hypoxic group and hypoxic-ischemic group with 70 rats in each. According to the time of sacrefice, 70 rats of every group were further divided randomly into seven groups including third hour (3 h), the sixth hour (6 h), first day (1 d), third day (3 d), the seventh day (7 d), the fourteenth day (14 d) and the twenty-first day (21 d), with 10 rats in each subgroup.

Zhongguo Shi Yan Xue Ye Xue Za Zhi

August 2005

Department of Blood Transfusion, Nanfang Hospital, The First Military Medical University, Guangzhou 510515, China.

To establish a mouse model bearing transplantable human chronic myeloid leukemia for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to treat leukemia, 4 - 5-week-old female BALB/c nude mice were given cyclophosphamide 2 mg/mouse at day -2, -1, and then the human chronic myeloid leukemia K562 cells were engrafted into the mice at day 0 by injection via tail vein or peritoneal cavity. PB and BM cells were collected, the CD45, CD13, and CD33 antigens were delected by using FCM, the bcr/abl fusion gene mRNA was examined by RT-PCR. The results showed that transplantable leukemic mice could be yielded from 4 - 5-week-old nude mice either by injection through tail vein or peritoneal cavity when the total number of inoculated tumor cells was more than 2 x 10(5) per mouse, whether being pretreated with 2 mg CTX/mouse or not.

In this paper, two new concepts of DR (Dose Repulsion) and DG (Dose Gravitation) are presented with their calculation formulas. For the problem of selecting beam arcs in x-knife radiotherapy Planning system, a mathematics model of constrained optimization has been built. Furthermore, we have produced a feasible project of automatic selecting optimized beam arcs plan using SA (Simulated Annealing) arithmetic based on the distribution of the fields of DR and DG in the reduced phase space.

Objective: To investigate the changes and the effects of captopril on the renal blood flow and microvascular perfusion in dogs with acute cardiac insufficiency.

Methods: Acute cardial insufficiency was induced by combining occlusion of the left anterior descending artery with right ventricular pacing in 12 mongrel dogs. The ascending aorta and left kidney were dissected and ultrasonic flow probes were placed on ascending aorta and renal artery to monitor cardiac output (CO) and renal blood flow (RBF).

Background: Previous studies have proposed that the frontal branch of the superficial temporal artery could be used to determine the course of the temporal branch of the facial nerve; however, these studies have not documented this relationship. The objective of this study was to thoroughly examine the courses of the frontal branch and temporal branch in the temporal region and to describe their relationship in detail. The operating technique used to avoid damaging the temporal branch in the rhytidectomy also is discussed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to investigate the presence of aquaporin-4 (AQP4) in isolated rat alveolar type II cells.
  • Researchers used special staining and electron microscopy to isolate and confirm the identity of these cells, followed by immunocytochemistry to observe AQP4 distribution.
  • Results showed that AQP4 is present in the membranes of rat alveolar type II cells, suggesting it may be important for water transport in the respiratory system.
