Key Laboratory of Photoelectronic Imaging Technology and System of Ministry of Education of China, School of Optics and Photonics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, 100081, China.

One key aspect pushing the frontiers of biomedical RS is dedicated machine- or deep- learning (ML or DL) algorithms. Yet, systematic comparative study between ML and DL algorithms has not been conducted for biomedical RS, largely due to the limited availability of open-source and large Raman spectra dataset. Therefore we compared typical ML partial least square-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and DL one dimensional convolution neural network (1D-CNN) based pathogenic microbe identification on 12,000 Raman spectra from six species of microbe (i.

It has been rarely reported that a stuck optical coherence tomography (OCT) catheter can lead to longitudinal stent deformation (LSD). This complication can result in incomplete stent apposition and dissection after stent implantation. In this study, we present a case where a bailout stent was implanted in the distal segment of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) after longitudinal stent deformation caused by a stuck OCT catheter.

Beyond surgery: Overcoming postoperative depression in cancer patients.

World J Psychiatry

July 2024

The First School of Clinical Medicine, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou 730000, Gansu Province, China.

Depression is a common occurrence among cancer patients, and it significantly impacts their clinical outcomes and quality of life, with a high incidence during anti-tumor treatment or after surgery. The association between surgery and depression is the result of the interaction of various factors, including physiological, psychological, and social factors, all of which are intertwined and make patients susceptible to depression after surgical treatment. Postoperative depression has a significant negative impact on many aspects of cancer patients, and it requires timely identification and intervention to improve the overall outcome.

Although electromyography has been extensively used in the diagnosis of neurological diseases, there is no comprehensive understanding of the electromyography manifestations of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula. Given the widespread use of electromyography in the diagnosis of neurological conditions, it is worthwhile to holistically analyse the electromyography findings of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula to differentiate it from neurological diseases that share similar clinical manifestations. The aim of this study is to evaluate whether electromyography can distinguish spinal dural arteriovenous fistula from longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis.

Developing patches that effectively merge intrinsic deformation characteristics of cardiac with superior tunable mechanical properties remains a crucial biomedical pursuit. Currently used traditional block-shaped or mesh patches, typically incorporating a positive Poisson's ratio, often fall short of matching the deformation characteristics of cardiac tissue satisfactorily, thus often diminishing their repairing capability. By introducing auxeticity into the cardiac patches, this study is trying to present a beneficial approach to address these shortcomings of the traditional patches.
