Department of Infectious Diseases, Shanghai Institute of Infectious Diseases and Biosecurity, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Infectious Diseases and Biosafety Emergency Response, National Medical Center for Infectious Diseases, Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (CHB) is a risk factor for the development of liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Covalently closed circular DNA serves as the sole transcription template for all viral RNAs and viral transcription is driven and enhanced by viral promoter and enhancer elements, respectively. Interactions between transcription factors and these -elements regulate their activities and change the production levels of viral RNAs.

Background: Supraclavicular nodal (SCL) irradiation is commonly used for patients with high-risk breast cancer after breast surgery. The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) breast contouring atlases delineate the medial part of the SCL region, while excluding the posterolateral part. However, recent studies have found that a substantial proportion of SCL failures are located in the posterolateral SCL region, outside of the RTOG/ESTRO-defined SCL target volumes.

Background: In addition to being secreted into the intercellular spaces by exocytosis, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) may also remain in the cytosol or be transported to the nucleus. Depending on the different cellular context and subcellular distribution, IGFBP5 can act as a tumor suppressor or promoter through insulin-like growth factor -dependent or -independent mechanisms. Yet, little is known about the impacts of IGFBP5 on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its underlying mechanism.

Article Synopsis
  • PD-1 monoclonal antibodies are a treatment for certain cancers, like Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but not all patients respond well and some stop responding over time.
  • Akkermansia muciniphila (AKK) is a type of microorganism that seems to help patients who do respond better to PD-1mAb.
  • In experiments with mice, AKK was found to improve the effectiveness of PD-1mAb by causing cancer cells to die, increasing certain immune cells, and changing bile acid levels in the body.
