Aims: To explore the pharmacological treatment of vascular depression (VaDep) and whether the blood levels of neurotransmitters can reflect the VaDep severity.
Methods: VaDep patients with somatic symptoms were enrolled and randomly received venlafaxine + tandospirone (Combined Group) or venlafaxine (Monotherapy Group). The treatment efficacy was assessed by Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), and Patient Health Questionnaire-15 (PHQ-15).

This case report highlights the successful management of fatal cardiac tamponade caused by intravascular intervention for central vein occlusion in hemodialysis patients. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are essential for patient prognosis in such cases. We present a case involving a challenging surgical procedure to address multiple complications, emphasizing the importance of early detection and appropriate interventions.

B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) levels are increased in patients with hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (HBV-ACLF). This condition is characterized by susceptibility to infection and T-cell immune exhaustion. However, whether BTLA can induce T-cell immune exhaustion and increase the risk of infection remains unclear.

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection (CHB) is a risk factor for the development of liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Covalently closed circular DNA serves as the sole transcription template for all viral RNAs and viral transcription is driven and enhanced by viral promoter and enhancer elements, respectively. Interactions between transcription factors and these -elements regulate their activities and change the production levels of viral RNAs.

Following the exhaustion of all conventional hemodialysis access options in the upper extremities, a prosthetic arteriovenous loop was performed between the brachial artery (BA) and the external jugular vein (EJV) as a novel access option for hemodialysis in the present case report. During the procedure, a polytetrafluoroethylene graft was anastomosed to the BA and the EJV, and looped on the upper limb. The safety and reliability of BA-EJV access was evaluated by determining the complications, patency and intervention rates.

Background: Coronary angiography-derived radial wall strain (RWS) is a newly developed index that can be readily accessed and describes the biomechanical features of a lesion.
Objectives: The authors sought to investigate the association of RWS with fractional flow reserve (FFR) and high-risk plaque (HRP), and their relative prognostic implications.
Methods: We included 484 vessels (351 patients) deferred after FFR measurement with available RWS data and coronary computed tomography angiography.

Background: Supraclavicular nodal (SCL) irradiation is commonly used for patients with high-risk breast cancer after breast surgery. The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) breast contouring atlases delineate the medial part of the SCL region, while excluding the posterolateral part. However, recent studies have found that a substantial proportion of SCL failures are located in the posterolateral SCL region, outside of the RTOG/ESTRO-defined SCL target volumes.

Background: In addition to being secreted into the intercellular spaces by exocytosis, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 5 (IGFBP5) may also remain in the cytosol or be transported to the nucleus. Depending on the different cellular context and subcellular distribution, IGFBP5 can act as a tumor suppressor or promoter through insulin-like growth factor -dependent or -independent mechanisms. Yet, little is known about the impacts of IGFBP5 on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and its underlying mechanism.

Introduction: We describe a rare case of a 54-year-old male diagnosed with both ulcerative colitis (UC) and hepatitis C virus (HCV), posing clinical challenges.
Patient Concerns: The patient showed worsened UC symptoms, leading to further evaluations.
Diagnosis: Dual diagnosis of UC and HCV was confirmed through endoscopy and serological tests, ruling out other hepatic causes.

Automated 12-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) classification algorithms play an important role in the diagnosis of clinical arrhythmias. Current methods that perform well in the field of automatic ECG classification are usually based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) or Transformer. However, due to the intrinsic locality of convolution operations, CNN can't extract long-dependence between series.

Apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5) is involved in serum triglyceride (TG) regulation. Several studies have reported that the rs651821 locus in the gene is associated with serum TG levels in the Chinese population. However, no research has been performed regarding the association between the variants of rs651821 and the risk of hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis (HLAP).

Background: Early cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) may predict the prognosis of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, data from CPET to assess the exercise capacity of patients with AMI PCI are still scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of the CPET and assess the predictors and clinical influence of exercise capacity measured by CPET in patients with AMI within 1 week after PCI.

This retrospective study identified prognostic factors to help guide the clinical treatment of elderly patients (≥ 65 years) with cervical cancer who had undergone radiotherapy. A personalized model to predict 3- and 5-years survival was developed. A review was conducted of 367 elderly women with cervical cancer (staged II-III) who had undergone radiotherapy in our hospital between January 2012 and December 2016.

Background: Mechanical thrombectomy is the most effective treatment for great cerebral artery embolization within a set time window. Typically, an arteriogram does not show the localization of the stent after release and whether a thrombus is captured or not. Thus, improving the visualization of a stent in interventional therapy will be helpful for clinicians.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of NRLP1 expression in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) combined with arrhythmia.
Methods: We enrolled 231 patients with STEMI in the first hospital of Quanzhou affiliated to Fujian Medical University from January 2019 to December 2020 to the observational group and 230 healthy individuals as the control group. We divided patients with STEMI into a malignant ventricular arrhythmia (MVA) group (=36) and non-MVA(NMVA) group (=195) depending on whether the individuals had experienced an episode of MVA within 48 hours after PCI.
