Excess weight gain is a growing concern worldwide, fueled by increased consumption of calorie-dense foods and more sedentary lifestyles. Obesity in China is also becoming increasingly problematic, developing into a major public health concern. Obesity not only increases the risk of associated disease but also imposes a burden on health care systems, and it is thus imperative that an effective intervention approach be identified.

Lenvatinib (LEN) is a multi-target TKI, which plays a pivotal role in the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The inevitable occurrence of drug resistance still prevents curative potential and is deleterious for the prognosis, and a growing body of studies is accumulating, which have devoted themselves to unveiling its underlying resistance mechanism and made some progress. The dysregulation of crucial signaling pathways, non-coding RNA and RNA modifications were proven to be associated with LEN resistance.

Background: Liver cancer is a highly lethal malignancy with frequent recurrence, widespread metastasis, and low survival rates. The aim of this study was to explore the role of Endoglin (ENG) in liver cancer progression, as well as its impacts on angiogenesis, immune cell infiltration, and the therapeutic efficacy of sorafenib.
Methods: A comprehensive evaluation was conducted using online databases Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), 76 pairs of clinical specimens of tumor and adjacent non-tumor liver tissue, and tissue samples from 32 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients treated with sorafenib.

Obesity, which is always accompanied by disorders of lipid metabolism and dysbiosis of the gut microbiota, has become a global epidemic recognised by the World Health Organisation, necessitating innovative strategies and a globally accepted agreement on treating obesity and its related complications. Probiotics, as major active ingredients in many foods, offer potential as biological treatments for obesity prevention and management. () possesses a wide range of biological activities and is widely used to alleviate and ameliorate various diseases.

Background: The classic percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) technique is used to complete an operation under the guidance of C-arm radiography under general anesthesia, making communication with patients during the operation impossible. It is not accurate or objective to predict the classic technique's curative effect solely by determining whether the projection of the x-ray lateral image of the filled balloon is pear-shaped.
Objectives: This study aimed to upgrade classic PBC to awake computed tomography (CT)-guided PBC technology under conscious local anesthesia and analgesia monitoring.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a prevalent ocular disorder characterized by unstable tear film condition with loss of aqueous or mucin, excessive oxidative stress, and inflammation, leading to discomfort and potential damage to the ocular surface. Current DED therapies have shown restricted therapeutic effects such as frequent dosing and temporary relief with potential unwanted side effects, urgently necessitating the development of innovative efficient therapeutic approaches. Herein, we developed rosmarinic acid (RosA) conjugated gelatin nanogels loading diquafosol sodium (DQS), DRGNG, for simultaneous ROS-scavenging and mucin-secreting DED treatment.

Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) is overexpressed in multiple cancers and critical for their immune escape. It has previously shown that the nuclear coactivator SRC-1 promoted colorectal cancer (CRC) progression by enhancing CRC cell viability, yet its role in CRC immune escape is unclear. Here, we demonstrate that SRC-1 is positively correlated with PD-L1 in human CRC specimens.

Endothelial cell (EC) damage or dysfunction serves as the initial event in the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular diseases. Progenitor cells have been postulated to be able to differentiate into ECs, facilitate endothelial regeneration, and alleviate vascular pathological remodeling. However, the precise cellular origins and underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

However, for relapsed and distant metastasis of THCA patients, the existing early diagnosis and treatment methods were still insufficient, and a new method was urgently needed to diagnose and treat them. Nucleolar and coiled-body phosphoprotein 1 (NOLC1) was one of the most phosphorylated proteins in the cell, which was located mainly in the nucleolus.

Cardiovascular aging is a progressive remodeling process constituting a variety of cellular and molecular alterations that are closely linked to mitochondrial dysfunction. Therefore, gaining a deeper understanding of the changes in mitochondrial function during cardiovascular aging is crucial for preventing cardiovascular diseases. Cardiac aging is accompanied by fibrosis, cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, metabolic changes, and infiltration of immune cells, collectively contributing to the overall remodeling of the heart.

Background: Macrophages play a crucial role in atherosclerotic plaque formation, and the death of macrophages is a vital factor in determining the fate of atherosclerosis. GSDMD (gasdermin D)-mediated pyroptosis is a programmed cell death, characterized by membrane pore formation and inflammatory factor release.
Methods: and mice, bone marrow transplantation, and AAV (adeno-associated virus serotype 9)-F4/80-shGSDMD (shRNA-GSDMD) were used to examine the effect of macrophage-derived GSDMD on atherosclerosis.

Steroid receptor coactivator-1 (SRC-1, also known as NCOA1) frequently functions as a transcriptional coactivator by directly binding to transcription factors and recruiting to the target gene promoters to promote gene transcription by increasing chromatin accessibility and promoting the formation of transcriptional complexes. In recent decades, various biological and pathological functions of SRC-1 have been reported, especially in the context of tumorigenesis. SRC-1 is a facilitator of the progression of multiple cancers, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, neurological cancer, and female genital system cancer.

The Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is an attractive optical detecting method with high sensitivity and detectivity, however challenges on large-area signal uniformity and complex spectra analysis methods always retards its wide application. Herein, a highly sensitive and uniform SERS detection strategy supported by porous carbon film/WO nanosheets (PorC/WO) based noble-metal-free SERS substrate and deep learning algorithm are reported. Experimentally, the PorC/WO substrate was prepared by high-temperature annealing the PorC/WO films under the argon atmosphere.

Genomic instability is an essential hallmark of cancer, and cellular DNA damage response (DDR) defects drive tumorigenesis by disrupting genomic stability. Several studies have identified abnormalities in DDR-associated genes, and a dysfunctional ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is the most common molecular event in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (PCa). For example, mutations in Speckle-type BTB/POZ protein-Ser119 result in DDR downstream target activation deficiency.

Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is a group of endometrial epithelial malignancies, most of which are adenocarcinomas and occur in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women. It is one of the most common carcinomas of the female reproductive system. It has been shown that the occurrence and development of EC is closely associated with the interaction between estrogen (estradiol, E2) and estrogen receptors (ERs), particularly ERα.

Background: Ras-GTPase-activating protein binding protein 1 (G3BP1) is an oncogenic factor, which highly expressed in a variety of cancers. In recent years, G3BP1 has been reported to promote the development of prostate cancer by inhibiting the degradation of AR through inhibiting SPOP. However, whether G3BP1 contributes in a similar manner to the abnormal accumulation of ERα, which is also an important target for hormone therapy, remains unknown.
