Asthma is a prevalent chronic inflammatory disorder of the respiratory tract that not only manifests with respiratory symptoms but also often involves intestinal flora disorders and gastrointestinal dysfunction. Recent studies have confirmed the close relationship between the gut and lungs, known as the "gut-lung axis" theory. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), a method for restoring normal intestinal flora, has shown promise in treating common gastrointestinal diseases.

Dural closure is a crucial step in cranial surgery, essential for preventing complications like cerebrospinal fluid leakage, wound infections, and meningitis. Traditional suturing techniques, however, pose challenges such as technical difficulty and the potential for tissue damage. This retrospective study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of a nonsuture dural closure method using medical glue for direct adhesion of a patch to the dura mater.

Background: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a severe condition associated with high mortality and disability rates. Oxidative stress plays a critical role in the development of secondary brain injury (SBI) following ICH. Previous research has demonstrated that Annao Pingchong decoction (ANPCD) treatment for ICH has antioxidant effects, but the exact mechanism is not yet fully understood.

Unlabelled: Ischemic stroke ranks as the second leading cause of global mortality and disability. Although reperfusion is crucial for salvaging brain tissue, it carries the risk of secondary injuries, such as ferroptosis. Gastrodin, a neuroprotective compound found in Chinese herbal medicine, may regulate this process.

Vertigo, including central and peripheral causes, is one of the common symptoms in patients who are admitted to neurological outpatient and emergency rooms. Despite the advancements in imaging techniques in recent years, central vertigo is difficult to identify and is often misdiagnosed in clinical practice. In this study, 4 patients were admitted to the hospital with complaints of dizziness or vertigo.

In China and other Asian nations, traditional medicine has long been utilized in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). While Chinese authorities have incorporated traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment experiences as a supplementary guide for CVD, its international recognition remains limited due to a scarcity of high-quality and reliable randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evidence. The purpose of this study was to examine the clinical outcomes with TCM for CVD after the recent publication of large trials adding >20,000 individuals to the published data.

Introduction: The phenotypic transition of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) from a quiescent, contractile type to a secretory phenotype with high proliferation and mobility is a key event in vascular remodeling. PF-477736 is an ATP-competitive inhibitor of Chk1 which induces the accumulation of DNA damage by increasing the level of replicative stress, and ultimately inhibiting cell proliferation or causing cell death. Although this compound has been utilized as an anti-tumor drug, its role in vascular remodeling remains unclear.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic disease characterized by joint wear and cartilage degeneration. Current clinical treatments are based on symptomatic relief and are not effective in regenerating cartilage, and inflammation-induced cartilage damage accelerates the progression of osteoarthritis, making the protection of articular cartilage important for controlling the development of knee osteoarthritis. In this study, a biodegradable hydrogel (HA-Ca-Alg@Ica) loaded with Icariin (Ica) was prepared by in situ cross-linking of hyaluronic acid-calcium complex (HA-Ca) and sodium alginate (Alg-Na) for local sustained delivery of Ica.

Liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is a prevalent and lethal malignancy with a complex molecular landscape. Fibrosis and ferroptosis are implicated in LIHC progression, yet their roles remain to be elucidated. The present study investigated the expression and prognostic significance of calcitonin receptor (CALCR), a gene that intersects the pathways of fibrosis and ferroptosis, across LIHC and other types of cancer.

The skin is the largest organ in the human body and is made up of various cells and structures. Over time, the skin will age, which is not only influenced by internal factors, but also by external environmental factors, especially ultraviolet radiation. Aging causes immune system weakening in the elderly, which makes them more susceptible to dermatosis, such as type 2 inflammatory mediated pruritus.
