Microvascular invasion (MVI) represents a pivotal independent prognostic factor for the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after surgery. It contributes to early intervention for potentially recurrent HCC to enhance patient outcomes and increase survival rates. Traditionally, the diagnosis of MVI has relied on postoperative pathological analysis, and accurate preoperative detection methodologies are lacking.

Objective: To identify independent predictors of complete resolution in patients with pseudobiliary calculi and evaluate the effectiveness of different therapeutic strategies.
Methods: Clinical data were retrospectively analyzed from 264 patients with pseudobiliary calculi admitted to The First Hospital of Lanzhou University between January 2018 and December 2019. Patients were categorized into complete resolution group (n = 43) and persistent group (n = 221) based on discharge CT findings.

The adverse effect of ambient PM exposure on very early pregnancy (VEP) remains controversial among epidemiological studies but is supported by toxicological evidence. We adopted a multicenter retrospective cohort of 141,040 cycles to evaluate the effect of PM exposure on the VEP using the fertilization and embryo transfer platform and high-resolution PM data in China. We first investigated the association between PM exposure 1 week before and 1 week after the embryo transfer date and VEP.

In this study, a novel pancreatic cancer cell line, termed pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)-X3 cell line, was successfully derived from the primary tumor. Comprehensive analyses of its malignant phenotype, molecular properties, specific biomarkers, and histological features confirmed that PDAC-X3 cells serve as a valuable model for investigating the underlying mechanisms driving pancreatic carcinogenesis and advancing potential therapeutic strategies. The newly established cell line was continuously cultured for over 12 months and was stably passaged through more than 50 generations.

Recurrent spontaneous abortion refers to the occurrence of two or more spontaneous abortions before or during the early stages of pregnancy. The immune system plays a crucial role in the maintenance of pregnancy and embryo implantation. Various immune cells, cytokines, and immune regulatory pathways are involved in the complex immune balance required for a stable pregnancy.

Developing cell lines resistant to chemotherapy is crucial for investigating drug resistance mechanisms and identifying alternative treatment pathways. The genetic and biological attributes of pancreatic cancer depend on its aetiology, racial demographics and anatomical origin, underscoring the need for models that comprehensively represent these characteristics.

Prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) is a glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the hydrolysis of phosphate ester present in prostatic exudates. It is a well-established indicator for prostate cancer due to its elevated serum levels in disease progression. Despite its abundance in semen, PAP's influence on male fertility has not been extensively studied.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Despite significant advancements in surgical and adjuvant treatments, patient prognosis remains unsatisfactory. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of RNA molecules that lack protein-coding capacity but can engage in the malignant biological behaviors of tumors through various mechanisms.

Background: Microvascular invasion (MVI) is a predictor of recurrence and overall survival in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the preoperative diagnosis of MVI through noninvasive methods play an important role in clinical treatment.
Aims: To investigate the effectiveness of radiomics features in evaluating MVI in HCC before surgery.
Methods: We included 190 patients who had undergone contrast-enhanced MRI and curative resection for HCC between September 2015 and November 2021 from two independent institutions.

Background: Patients with sepsis are at high risk for acute gastrointestinal injury (AGI), but the diagnosis and treatment of AGI due to sepsis are unsatisfactory. Heparanase (HPA) plays an important role in septic AGI (S-AGI), but its specific mechanism is not completely understood, and few clinical reports are available.
Aim: To explore the effect and mechanism of HPA inhibition in S-AGI patients.

Simultaneous multiple primary tumors on the same side of the lung with Tropheryma whipplei (TW) infection are rare. We reviewed the clinical data, imaging manifestations, pathological results, diagnosis and treatment of a primary pulmonary mucinous adenocarcinoma (PPMA) patient with bronchial squamous cell papilloma (BSCP) and TW infection, and discussed our treatment experience. The patient mainly presented with chronic cough and sputum, and computed tomography (CT) showed inflammatory changes with multiple nodular shadows.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathophysiological condition of increased pulmonary circulation vascular resistance due to various reasons, which mainly leads to right heart dysfunction and even death, especially in critically ill patients. Although drug interventions have shown some efficacy in improving the hemodynamics of PH patients, the mortality rate remains high. Hence, the identification of new targets and treatment strategies for PH is imperative.

The effect of the conventional treatment methods of glioblastoma (GBM) is poor and the prognosis of patients is poor. The expression of MCL-1 in GBM is significantly increased, which shows a high application value in targeted therapy. In this study, we predicted the prognosis of glioblastoma patients, and therefore constructed MCL-1 related prognostic signature (MPS) and the development of MCL-1 small molecule inhibitors.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is the most common respiratory disease in ICU. Although there are many treatment and support methods, the mortality rate is still high. The main pathological feature of ARDS is the damage of pulmonary microvascular endothelium and alveolar epithelium caused by inflammatory reaction, which may lead to coagulation system disorder and pulmonary fibrosis.

Pneumoconiosis is characterized by chronic lung inflammation and fibrosis, and inflammation can promote pulmonary fibrosis, which in turn leads to pneumoconiosis. When a large shadow with a long diameter of not less than 2 cm and a short diameter of not less than 1 cm appears in the lung, it can be classified as stage Ⅲ pneumoconiosis. This paper reports a case of stage Ⅲ pneumoconiosis with a large shadow in the upper right lung accompanied by burr-like changes misdiagnosed as lung cancer by CT examination.

Microvascular invasion (MVI) is an independent predictor of early recurrence and poor prognosis following hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) resection and transplantation. As a novel non-invasive diagnostic tool, radiomics can extract the quantitative imaging features of tumors and peritumoral tissues with high throughput, providing more information on tumor heterogeneity than conventional and functional imaging of visual analysis and having a good application prospect in predicting the presence of MVI in HCC patients, thereby improving the accuracy of HCC diagnosis and prognosis. The value of the multimodal radiomics method based on various imaging methods in evaluating the possibility of MVI in HCC patients is elucidated here in combination with the latest research progress.

One of the basic trace elements for the structure and metabolism of human tissue is copper. However, as a heavy metal, excessive intake or abnormal accumulation of copper in the body can cause inevitable damage to the organism because copper can result in direct injury to various cell components or disruption of the redox balance, eventually leading to cell death. Interestingly, a growing body of research reports that diverse cancers have raised serum and tumor copper levels.
