Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignant tumor worldwide with high morbidity and high mortality rates. Previous studies have demonstrated that cytoskeleton regulator RNA (CYTOR) plays critical roles in the tumorigenesis of various types of cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the clinical significance, biological function and molecular mechanism of CYTOR in the progression of HCC.

Endoscopy is widely used as a clinical diagnosis and treatment method for certain hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. However, due to the distinctive epidemiological characteristics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, the virus causing coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), healthcare providers are exposed to the patient's respiratory and gastrointestinal fluids, rendering endoscopy a high risk for transmitting a nosocomial infection. This article introduces preventive measures for endoscopic treatment enacted in our medical center during COVID-19, including the adjustment of indications, the application of endoscope protective equipment, the design and application of endoscopic masks and splash-proof films, and novel recommendations for bedside endoscope pre-sterilization.

Pancreatic cancer, one of the most common gastrointestinal tract cancers, leads to a high mortality rate of over 80% among patients. Conventional chemotherapy with gemcitabine (GEM) is undesirable due to the lack of effective tumor accumulation. To improve the survival of pancreatic cancer patients and the therapeutic efficiency of chemotherapy, dual-functional melanin-based nanoliposomes loaded with GEM were synthesized in our study, which combined chemotherapy and photothermal therapy (PTT).

Although the development of de novo autoimmune liver disease after liver transplantation (LT) has been described in both children and adults, autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)-primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) overlap syndrome has rarely been seen in liver transplant recipients. Here, we report a 50-year-old man who underwent LT for decompensated liver disease secondary to alcoholic steatohepatitis. His liver function tests became markedly abnormal 8 years after LT.
