Background: At present, bronchoscopic intervention has become an important treatment approach for central airway obstruction (CAO). Choosing an appropriate access channel for different patients during this operation has become a research focus.
Methods: Data of bronchoscopic interventions in 201 patients with CAO in which one of endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask, or rigid bronchoscope were used as the only access channel were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: To investigate the effect of ghrelin, a brain-gut peptide hormone, on high glucose-induced retinal angiogenesis in vitro and explore its association with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
Methods: Human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMECs) were first divided into control and high-glucose groups, and the mRNA and protein expression levels of the receptor for ghrelin [growth hormone secretin receptor 1a, (GHSR-1a)] in cells were determined. HRMECs were then treated with high glucose alone or in combination with ghrelin or siGHSR-1a, and cell viability, migration, tube formation and the expression of the ER stress-related proteins PERK, ATF4 and CHOP were detected.

Lung cancer is a high-risk tumor and is a main cause of death worldwide. The tumor aggressiveness and degree of malignancy depend not only on the tumor itself, but also on the microenvironment. The inflammatory microenvironment is one of the key factors in promoting the progression of lung cancer.

The prevalence of liver disease has been increasing worldwide. Moreover, the burden of end-stage liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer, is high because of high mortality and suboptimal treatment. The pathological process of liver disease includes steatosis, hepatocyte death, and fibrosis, which ultimately lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) is a common degenerative joint disease that can cause severe pain and dysfunction. It has a serious impact on the quality of lives of patients. Since mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of TMJOA is not fully understood, the development of effective tools for early diagnosis and disease-modifying therapies has been hindered.

Periodontitis is a chronic infectious disease that affects the oral health of adults. Long non-coding RNA OIP5 antisense RNA 1 (OIP5-AS1) has been reported to downregulated in the periodontal tissue of patients with periodontitis. Therefore, the study sought to look at the possible functions of OIP5-AS1 in periodontitis and the associated underlying mechanisms.

We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the influences of closed incisions in orthopaedic trauma surgery (OTS) by negative pressure wound treatment (NPWT) compared with conventional dressings. A systematic literature search up to March 2022 was done and 14 studies included 3935 subjects with OTS at the start of the study; 2023 of them used NPWT and 1912 were conventional dressings. They were reporting relationships between the influences of closed incisions in OTS by NPWT compared with conventional dressings.

Accumulating evidence has shown that circular RNAs (circRNAs) serve a critical regulatory role in various human cancers, including gastric cancer (GC), and in this study, we aimed to explore the functions of circKIF4A in the progression of GC. Our findings demonstrated that circKIF4A was highly expressed in both GC tissues and cell lines, and high intratumoral circKIF4A expression predicted a poor prognosis in GC patients. In vitro gain- and loss-of-function assays indicated that circKIF4A knockdown suppressed the proliferation, migration, invasion, and EMT of GC cells, while these malignant behaviors were enhanced by circKIF4A overexpression.

Aim: To investigate the effect of leptin on the angiogenesis of RF/6A cells (monkey retinal choroidal endothelial cells) and test the cellular signaling in the mechanism.
Methods: RF/6A cells were cultured and randomly divided into four groups: normal control, with leptin at 50, 100, 200 ng/mL for cell counting kit-8 (CCK8). RF/6A cell proliferation and migration were examined by Transwell assays, while RF/6A cell tube formation by Matrigel assay.

Sclerostin domain-containing 1 (SOSTDC1) has been documented as a key tumor-associated protein that is differentially expressed in multiple malignancies. However, the function of SOSTDC1 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is unexplored. The goal of this work was to assess the possible role of SOSTDC1 in AML.

Hypoxia, one of the key features of the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) microenvironment, transcriptionally regulates the expression of mRNAs and non-coding RNAs via hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), thereby promoting tumor progression. However, hypoxia-responsive long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in HCC required further investigation. We found that HLA complex group 15 (HCG15) was a new hypoxia-related lncRNA in HCC cells.

Glioma is the most common primary malignant intracranial tumor in humans, and glioblastoma (GBM) has been associated with a more aggressive histology and poorer prognosis. There is growing evidence that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the progression of various malignancies; however, the role and molecular mechanism of circRNAs in glioma remain elusive. In the present study, we screened for differentially expressed circRNAs in gliomas by using a bioinformatics method.

Introduction: Bone delay union is mostly caused by lack of blood supply. Although autografts, allografts and artificial bone have been widely used to treat bone delay union, the bone regeneration fails in the ischemic site accompanied by the bone donor site complications and disease transmission. Recently, there is a growing recognition of the importance of hydrogel scaffolds which are regarded as an eligible engineer tissue for bone repair.

Background: Early enteral nutrition is crucial for preventing malnutrition and improving outcomes in patients with severe stroke, but previous trials have provided conflicting results regarding the optimal nutritional strategy. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of three enteral feeding strategies in patients with severe stroke.
Methods: The Optimizing Early Enteral Nutrition in Severe Stroke (OPENS) study was a multicentre, investigator-initiated, prospective, open-label, randomised controlled trial, with blinded outcome assessment, in 16 tertiary and district general hospitals in the west of China.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell-derived, membranous nanoparticles that mediate intercellular communication by transferring biomolecules between cells. As natural vehicles, EVs may exhibit higher delivery efficiency, lower immunogenicity, and better compatibility than existing RNA carriers. A major limitation of their therapeutic use is the shortage of efficient, robust, and scalable methods to load siRNA of interest.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE) II score on different days in predicting the mortality of critically ill patients to identify the best time point for the APACHE II score.
Methods: The demographic and clinical data are retrieved from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV dataset. Aims: Transcriptional enhanced associate domain (TEAD) transcription factor family, a very important family in the hippo signaling pathway, has been found to play oncogenic functions in the occurrence of various malignant tumors. However, the expression of TEADs in pan-cancer and the important role of TEAD4 in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) have not been analyzed. Herein, we aim to evaluate the expression of TEADs in pan-cancer, and focus on analyzing the role of TEAD4 in the progression of ccRCC.
