Single Molecular Nanopores as a Label-Free Method for Homogeneous Conformation Investigation and Anti-Interference Molecular Analysis.

In this paper, we propose a "reciprocal strategy" that, on the one hand, explores the ability of solid-state nanopores in a homogeneous high-fidelity characterization of nucleic acid assembly and, on the other hand, the formed nucleic acid assembly with a large size serves as an amplifier to provide a highly distinguished and anti-interference signal for molecular sensing. Four-hairpin hybridization chain reaction (HCR) with G-rich tail tags is taken as the proof-of-concept demonstration. G-rich tail tags are commonly used to form G-quadruplex signal probes on the side chain of HCR duplex concatemers.

[Expression and clinical significance of plasma methylated SEPT 9 gene in patients with primary liver cancer].

To investigate the expression and clinical significance of plasma methylated SEPT9 (mSEPT9) gene in patients with primary liver cancer. 393 cases who visited our hospital from May 2016 to October 2018 were selected. Among them, 75 cases were in the primary liver cancer (PLC) group, 50 cases were in the liver cirrhosis (LC) group, and 268 cases were in the healthy control group (HC).

An Evaluation of Fluorouracil plus Paclitaxel and Oxiliplatin as a First-Line Treatment for Advanced Gastric Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of fluorouracil (FU) combined with paclitaxel (PTX) and oxaliplatin (OXA) as the first-line treatment for advanced gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) and its influence on human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) expression.

Methods: We collected one hundred and sixty-eight patients with advanced gastric SRCC, including 87 patients treated with FU combined with PTX and OXA as the study group (SG) and 81 patients treated with FU combined with OXA as the control group (CG). We compared indicators such as efficacy and adverse reactions after treatment between the two groups and also detected serum HER-2 expression pre- and post-treatment.

Background: The capacity of the liver to restore its architecture and function assures good prognoses of patients who suffer serious hepatic injury, cancer resection, or living donor liver transplantation. Only a few studies have shed light on the mechanisms involved in the termination stage of LR. Here, we attempt to further verify the role of the p53/miR-34a/SIRT1 positive feedback loop in the termination of liver regeneration and its possible relationship with liver cancer.

Methods: The information of patients was retrieved from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-III and -IV databases. The Modified National Early Warning Score (MNEWS) of the patients was calculated.

[The role of intestinal immune cells in regulation of fatty liver disease progress through gut-liver axis].

Fatty liver disease is one of the most prevalent chronic liver disease worldwide and the gut-liver axis is recognized as increasingly prominent in fatty liver disease. Intestinal dysfunction can affect the occurrence or progression of liver disease, therein, validating the critical role of the intestinal immune cells. Enormous literature reported that macrophages, lymphocyte, dendritic cells (DCs) and other immune cells in the gut as well as their subsets may regulate the fatty liver disease progression via different mechanisms, including disruption of intestinal barrier, dysregulation of intestinal lipid transporters and mediating immune cell migration to liver.

Buried penis: a histological and histochemical study of dartos fascia.

This study aimed to determine whether the abnormal deep layer of dartos fascia plays an important role in buried penis. Forty-nine patients with buried penis were treated with anatomical resection of the deep layer of dartos fascia under a microscope. Penile length was measured before and after completely resecting the deep layer to investigate the role of this layer in penile retraction.

Strategic preparation of porous magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers via a simple and green method for high-performance adsorption and removal of meropenem.

In this study, a facile method has been developed to synthesize a novel type of porous magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (FeO-MER-MMIPs) for the selective adsorption and removal of meropenem. The FeO-MER-MMIPs, with abundant functional groups and sufficient magnetism for easy separation, are prepared in aqueous solutions. The porous carriers reduce the overall mass of the MMIPs, greatly improving their adsorption capacity per unit mass and optimizing the overall value of the adsorbents.

It has been shown that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LINC00659 was markedly upregulated in the peripheral blood of patients with deep venous thrombosis (DVT). However, the function of LINC00659 in lower extremity DVT (LEDVT) remains to be largely unrevealed. A total of 30 inferior vena cava (IVC) tissue samples and peripheral blood (60 ml per subject) were obtained from LEDVT patients (n = 15) and healthy donors (n = 15), and then LINC00659 expression was detected by RT-qPCR.

Even when treated comprehensively by surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, soft-tissue sarcoma has an unfavorable outcome. Because soft-tissue sarcoma is rare, it is the subject of fewer clinicopathological studies, which are important for clarifying pathophysiology. Here, we examined tumor-associated macrophages in the intratumoral and marginal areas of sarcomas to increase our knowledge about the pathophysiology.

A digital workflow to predict facial aesthetics in patients with maxillofacial trauma with implant retained prostheses.

Purpose To introduce a digital workflow for the prediction of facial aesthetics, especially in patients with dentation deformity caused by maxillofacial trauma.Methods Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and three-dimensional facial scans of patients with radiographic prostheses were collected. The aforementioned data were uploaded to ProPlan CMF software and merged to generate a virtual patient with craniofacial hard tissue, realistic facial soft tissue, and remaining dentition.

Autologous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is commonly placed for hemodialysis treatment. The molecular mechanism of network regulation in the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been constantly improved. Here, we investigated the biological effects of TEAD4-MAD2L1 axis on proliferation and metastasis of human CRC cells. This study revealed that the expressions of MAD2L1 and TEAD4 in CRC tissues and CRC cell lines were significantly higher than those in adjacent epithelial tissues and normal intestinal epithelial cell line NCM460, and their expressions were significantly positively correlated; Moreover, inhibiting the expression of MAD2L1 or TEAD4 can inhibit the proliferation and migration of CRC cells and promote apoptosis.

The aim of this study was to conduct a comprehensive transcriptomic analysis to explore the potential biological functions of noncoding RNA (ncRNAs) in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). Whole transcriptome sequencing was performed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) profiles between the TMJOA and normal groups. The functions and pathways of the DEGs were analyzed using Metascape, and a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network was constructed using Cytoscape software.

Development and validation of a machine learning-based model for varices screening in compensated cirrhosis (CHESS2001): an international multicenter study.
