A combination of laparoscopy and bilateral uterine artery occlusion for the treatment of type II cesarean scar pregnancy: a retrospective analysis.

Objective: We investigated the efficacy of a combination of laparoscopy and bilateral uterine artery occlusion (BUAO) for the treatment of type II cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP).

Methods: Patients with type II CSP underwent laparoscopy + bilateral uterine artery embolization (control group) or laparoscopy + BUAO (study group). Data regarding the duration of surgery, intraoperative hemorrhage, postoperative complications, the duration of the hospital stay, and the costs of hospitalization were retrospectively collected.

Vaginal microbiota molecular profiling and diagnostic performance of artificial intelligence-assisted multiplex PCR testing in women with bacterial vaginosis: a single-center experience.

Background: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a most common microbiological syndrome. The use of molecular methods, such as multiplex real-time PCR (mPCR) and next-generation sequencing, has revolutionized our understanding of microbial communities. Here, we aimed to use a novel multiplex PCR test to evaluate the microbial composition and dominant lactobacilli in non-pregnant women with BV, and combined with machine learning algorithms to determine its diagnostic significance.

A machine learning-based hybrid recommender framework for smart medical systems.

This article presents a hybrid recommender framework for smart medical systems by introducing two methods to improve service level evaluations and doctor recommendations for patients. The first method uses big data techniques and deep learning algorithms to develop a registration review system in medical institutions. This system outperforms conventional evaluation methods, thus achieving higher accuracy.

Objective: This work aimed to explore the prognostic risk factors of lung cancer (LC) patients and establish a line chart prediction model.

Methods: A total of 322 LC patients were taken as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a training set (n = 202) and a validation set (n = 120).

CRISPR/Cas-based nucleic acid detection strategies: Trends and challenges.

CRISPR/Cas systems have become integral parts of nucleic acid detection apparatus and biosensors. Various CRISPR/Cas systems such as CRISPR/Cas9, CRISPR/Cas12, CRISPR/Cas13, CRISPR/Cas14 and CRISPR/Cas3 utilize different mechanisms to detect or differentiate biological activities and nucleotide sequences. Usually, CRISPR/Cas-based nucleic acid detection systems are combined with polymerase chain reaction, loop-mediated isothermal amplification, recombinase polymerase amplification and transcriptional technologies for effective diagnostics.

CT quantification of pulmonary vessels in lung aging.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of aging on pulmonary vessels based on computed tomography (CT) quantification and analyse the correlation between quantitative pulmonary vascular volume and pulmonary function during aging.

Materials And Methods: A total of 330 healthy adult volunteers, including 161 men (53 aged 20-39 years, 61 aged 40-59 years, and 47 aged ≥60 years) and 169 women (53 aged 20-39 years, 63 aged 40-59 years, and 53 aged ≥60 years) were recruited in this study. AVIEW software was used to quantitatively measure pulmonary vascular volume, including pulmonary total blood vessel volume (TBV) and small blood vessel volume with a cross-sectional area of <5 mm (BV5).

Three-Year Point Prevalence Survey of Antimicrobial Use in a Chinese University Hospital.

To evaluate the prevalence and quality of antimicrobial prescriptions using a Global Point Prevalence Survey (PPS) tool and help identify targets for improvement of antimicrobial prescribing and inform the development of antimicrobial stewardship activities. Antimicrobial prescriptions for inpatients staying at a hospital overnight were surveyed on one weekday in October 2018, November 2019, and November 2020. Data including basic patient information, antimicrobial drugs, quality evaluation of antimicrobial drug prescription, and the risk factors of nosocomial infection were collected from doctor network workstation.

Background: Obese patients have been found to be susceptible to iron deficiency, and malabsorption of dietary iron is the cause of obesity-related iron deficiency (ORID). Divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1) and ferroportin (FPN), are two transmembrane transporter proteins expressed in the duodenum that are closely associated with iron absorption. However, there have been few studies on the association between these two proteins and the increased susceptibility to iron deficiency in obese patients.

Objective: To investigate the expression of WTAP, a mA methylase, in a mouse model of renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury and the effect of WTAP knockdown on biological behavior of renal tubular epithelial cells exposed to I/R injury.

Methods: Sixteen C57BL/6 mice with renal I/R injury or sham operation (=8) were examined for blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Scr) levels to assess renal function, and renal pathologies were observed with HE staining. The expressions of WTAP and FOXO1 proteins in the kidneys of the mice were detected using immunohistochemistry.

Recent advances and challenges of the use of the CRISPR/Cas system as a non-nucleic acid molecular diagnostic.

The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic DNA sequence repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR-associated (Cas) (CRISPR/Cas) systems are currently applied not only as a gene editing tool but also as a novel molecular diagnostic technique. The CRISPR/Cas systems have emerged as an efficient molecular diagnostic system that can detect nucleic acids, proteins and small molecule compounds, by converting a non-nucleic acid into a nucleic acid signal of Cas-identifiable and keeping inherent properties of high sensitivity and specificity. While its multiple advantages for nucleic acid detection have been widely published in excellent reviews, there have been no systematic analyses and reviews on the principles and characteristics of CRISPR/Cas-based diagnostic systems for non-nucleic acids.

Mechanosensitive channels (MS channels) are membrane proteins capable of responding to mechanical stress over a wide dynamic range of external mechanical stimuli. In recent years, it has been found that MS channels play an important role as "sentinels" in the process of cell sensing and response to extracellular and intracellular force signals. There is growing appreciation for mechanical activation of ion channels and their subsequent initiation of downstream signaling pathways.
