Sepsis is a life-threatening severe organ dysfunction, and the pathogenesis remains uncertain. Increasing evidence suggests that circRNAs, mRNAs, and microRNAs can interact to jointly regulate the development of sepsis. Identifying the interaction between ceRNA regulatory networks and sepsis may contribute to our deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of sepsis, bring new insights into early recognition and treatment of sepsis.

Introduction: During the first wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in China, the surge of COVID-19 cases was rapid and drastic. Emerging evidence suggests that beyond the acute phase, patients with COVID-19 may experience a wide range of postacute or long COVID sequelae. However, the mechanism and burden of COVID-19, especially long COVID, have not yet been comprehensively clarified.

Cuproptosis shows great prospects in cancer treatments. However, insufficient intracellular copper amount, low-level redox homeostasis, and hypoxic tumor microenvironment severely restrict cuproptosis efficacy. Herein, hydrazided hyaluronan-templated decorated CuO-doxorubicin (CuDT) nanodot clusters (NCs) are developed for efficient doxorubicin (DOX)-sensitized cuproptosis therapy in breast cancer via a three-pronged strategy.

Chemotherapy hardly achieves satisfactory therapeutic efficacy owing to the widely occurred adverse effects and drug tolerance, and the extensively investigated delivery systems suffer from complicated synthesis, low drug loading and less efficient tumor accumulation. Herein, we developed rod-shape nanocrystals to address challenges in the circulation stability, tumor targeting and therapeutic efficacy of camptothecin (CPT), a mainstay of treatments for various cancers. CPT nanorods (CNR) were coated with polydopamine (PDA) to achieve combinational chemo- and photothermal therapies (PTT) and then wrapped with cell membrane (CM) from homotypic tumor cells to obtain CNR@PDA-CM.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a substantial global health concern, exhibits inconspicuous early symptoms, and is typically diagnosed at advanced stages leading to unfavorable outcomes. The intricate tumor microenvironment plays a crucial role in CRC development and progression, where chemokines contribute significantly. These chemokines exhibit widespread expression within tumor cells, facilitating immune cell infiltration, angiogenesis, and the establishment of distant metastases.

Ovarian cancer remains a major challenge in oncology due to its complex biology and late-stage diagnosis. Recent advances in molecular biology have highlighted the crucial role of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in regulating apoptosis and cancer progression. NcRNAs, including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, have emerged as significant players in the molecular networks governing ovarian cancer.

Nucleic acid testing is the most effective detection method currently available for the diagnosis of respiratory infectious diseases. However, the conventional real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR technique, which is regarded as the gold standard method for nucleic acid detection, presents significant challenges for implementation in home self-testing and popularization in underdeveloped regions due to its rigorous experimental standards. It is therefore clear that an easy-to-use, miniaturized nucleic acid testing technology and products for nonprofessionals are of great necessity to define the pathogens and assist in controlling disease transmission.

Background: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is mainly secreted by the liver, and plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism disorder. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) can regulate lipid metabolism through various pathways, including reducing visceral fat accumulation, modulating serum lipoprotein levels and alleviating hepatic steatosis. However, the specific regulatory mechanisms remain unclear.

Cognitive dysfunction has become the second leading cause of death among the diabetic patients. In pre-diabetic stage, blood-brain barrier (BBB) injury occurs and induced the microvascular complications of diabetes, especially, diabetes-associated cognitive dysfunction (DACD). Endothelial cells are the major component of BBB, on which the increased expression of CD40 could mediate BBB dysfunction in diabetics.
