Aims: To develop multiple machine learning (ML) models based on the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and determine the optimal model for predicting long-term survival outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after local ablation.
Methods: From January 2009 to December 2019, we analyzed data from 848 primary HCC patients who underwent local ablation. ML models were constructed and evaluated using the concordance index (C-index), concordance-discordance area under curve (C/D AUC), and Brier scores.

Emergency wounds are often accompanied by bacterial infection, oxidative stress, and excessive inflammation due to the inability to quickly close and stop bleeding, resulting in chronic wounds that are difficult to heal. Clinically, surgical suturing is the fastest method for wound closure, but it is only suitable for wounds with small bleeding volumes and causes unsightly scar formation. Consequently, there is a critical need for hemostatic dressings versatile enough to address a spectrum of diverse and intricate wounds, especially in emergency scenarios.

Background And Purpose: We aimed to investigate the association between critical perfusion delay and poor outcome among recanalized stroke patients with anterior large-vessel occlusion, and to use pretreatment hypoperfusion biomarkers on CT to predict futile recanalization even after successful thrombectomy.
Methods: An ischemic region with time-to-maximum (Tmax) > 12s-10s was defined as critical hypoperfusion, Tmax > 8s as moderate hypoperfusion, and hypoperfusion intensity ratio (HIR, volumetric ratio of Tmax > 10s / Tmax > 6s) represented for severity of critical hypoperfusion and rCBF < 30% for ischemic core. The associations between these CT perfusion characteristics and favorable or unfavorable outcome (mRS 0-2 versus 3-6) were analyzed in univariable regression, and a multivariable model was then used to predict futile recanalization.

Purpose: The response of patients with biliary tract carcinoma (BTC) to immunotherapy varies widely, and there is an urgent need for biological indicators. The predictive value of inflammation based score (IBS) for the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with BTC remains unclear, as the evidence is inconsistent. This study aimed to comprehensively examine the predictive value of IBS in peripheral blood on the survival of BTC patients receiving immunotherapy.

Malignant transformation is concomitant with excessive activation of stress response pathways. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are stress-inducible proteins that play a role in folding and processing proteins, contributing to the non-oncogene addiction of stressed tumor cells. However, the detailed role of the HSP family in osteosarcoma has not been investigated.

The treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) remains challenging due to the narrow therapeutic window and rapid clearance of therapeutic agents, even with intra-articular administration, resulting in a low treatment index. Recent advancements in local drug delivery systems have yet to overcome the issues of uncontrolled burst release and short retention time, leading to suboptimal OA treatment outcome. Herein, we developed a methacrylate-crosslinking hyaluronic acid (HA) microgel (abbreviated as CXB-HA-CBP) that covalently conjugates the anti-inflammatory drug celecoxib (CXB) via a metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2)-responsive peptide linker (GGPLGLAGGC) and a collagen II binding peptide (WYRGRLC).

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most lethal malignancies worldwide. Despite extensive efforts to develop novel therapeutic targets, effective drugs for GC remain limited. Recent studies have indicated that Lipocalin (LCN)2 abnormalities significantly impact GC progression; however, its regulatory network remains unclear.

Human parathyroid hormone (1-34) (PTH) exhibits osteoanabolic and osteocatabolic effects, with shorter plasma exposure times favoring bone formation. Subcutaneous injection (SCI) is the conventional delivery route for PTH but faces low delivery efficiency due to limited passive diffusion and the obstruction of the vascular endothelial barrier, leading to prolonged drug exposure times and reduced osteoanabolic effects. In this work, a microcurrent delivery system (MDS) based on multimicrochannel microneedle arrays (MMAs) is proposed, achieving high efficiency and safety for PTH transdermal delivery.

Background: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) resistance is closely associated with altered AR status. Aberrant AR expression is critical for the induction of ADT resistance, necessitating the identification of an anti-PCa target independent of AR expression.
Methods: Transcriptomic data and clinical information of PRAD were obtained from TCGA database.

Background: Transforming growth factor beta receptor III (TGFBR3) has been shown to play a tumor-suppressive role in a variety of cancers. However, its role in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) remains unknown.
Method: TGFBR3 expression levels in PTC were analyzed utilizing The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases.

Background: Eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (eos-CRSwNP), especially those with diffuse disease as indicated by CT scans, has high recurrence rate and low control rate after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Most of them are difficult to treat.
Objective: This study sought to identify if eos-CRSwNP patients were to undergo surgery earlier, while the disease is still limited on CT, they might achieve better postoperative outcomes.

Background: Oxidative stress is a key contributor to the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in individuals with metabolic syndrome (MetS). The oxidative balance score (OBS) is an emerging composite assessment tool for dietary and lifestyle oxidative balance. We aimed to explore the association of OBS with CKD prevalence in MetS in this national cross-sectional analysis.

Purpose: Radiotherapy is a critical treatment for early-stage extranodal nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) and has yielded favorable survival outcomes. However, their postradiotherapy quality of life (QOL) has not been investigated. Here, we conducted a cross-sectional study to assess the QOL of ENKTL patients with disease-free survival after definitive radiotherapy and to identify factors associated with QOL and treatment optimization.

Lipid metabolism reprogram plays key roles in breast cancer tumorigenesis and immune escape. The underlying mechanism and potential regulator were barely investigated. We thus established an in vivo tumorigenesis model, mice-bearing breast cancer cells were treated with an ordinary diet and high-fat diet, species were collected and subjected to circRNA sequence to scan the potential circRNAs regulating the lipid metabolism.
