Cancer, a heterogeneous disease, presents significant challenges for drug development due to its complex etiology. Drug repurposing, particularly through network medicine approaches, offers a promising avenue for cancer treatment by analyzing how drugs influence cellular networks on a systemic scale. The advent of large-scale proteomics data provides new opportunities to elucidate regulatory mechanisms specific to cancer subtypes.

Epidemiological studies indicate that the involvement of the immune system in the pathogenesis of infections associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and interstitial lung disease (ILD) remains unclear. This study aims to assess the potential causal link between infections associated with COPD, asthma, or ILD and immune system function. We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis using publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) datasets.

Objectives: The research aimed to assess the proportions of Gamma delta (γδ) T cells and the expression levels of CD226, ICOS, CD40L, OX40, TIGIT, LAG-3, Tim-3, and PD-1 on γδ T cells in the peripheral blood of patients diagnosed with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), and to evaluate the clinical significance of these findings.
Methods: Utilizing flow cytometry, we investigated the proportion of γδ T cells and the expression of CD226, ICOS, CD40L, OX40, TIGIT, LAG-3, PD-1, and Tim-3 on γδ T cells in 37 patients diagnosed with pSS and 28 healthy controls (HC). Moreover, we explored the potential associations between the proportion of γδ T cells, TIGIT + γδ T cells, PD-1 + γδ T cells, and TIGIT + PD-1 + γδ T cells with clinical symptoms and laboratory parameters.

NKp46 is a critical regulator of natural killer (NK) cell immunity, but its function in non-NK innate immune cells remains unclear. Here, we show that NKp46 is indispensable for expressing IL-2 receptor-α (IL-2Rα) by non-NK liver-resident type-1 innate lymphoid cells (ILC1s). Deletion of NKp46 reduces IL-2Rα on ILC1s by downregulating NF-κB signaling, thus impairing ILC1 proliferation and cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo.

Introduction: This study aims to critically assess the appropriateness and limitations of two prominent large language models (LLMs), enhanced representation through knowledge integration (ERNIE Bot) and chat generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT), in answering questions about liver cancer interventional radiology. Through a comparative analysis, the performance of these models will be evaluated based on their responses to questions about transarterial chemoembolization and hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy in both English and Chinese contexts.
Methods: A total of 38 questions were developed to cover a range of topics related to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC), including foundational knowledge, patient education, and treatment and care.

Acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1), a member of the acyl-coenzyme A oxidase family, is considered a crucial regulator whose dysregulation is implicated in the occurrence and progression of various cancers. This study aims to elucidate the impact of ACOX1 in CRC, shedding light on its potential as a therapeutic target. Through analysis of the GEO dataset, it was found that ACOX1 is significantly downregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC), and this lower expression level is associated with a worse prognosis.

Aims: To assess the robustness of 4D-optimised IMPT and PAT plans against interplay effects in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with respiratory motion over 10 mm, and to provide insights into the use of proton-based stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for lung cancer with significant tumour movement.
Materials And Methods: Fourteen patients with early-stage NSCLC and tumour motion >10 mm were selected. Three hypofraction regimens were generated using 4D robust optimisation with the IMPT and PAT techniques.

One of the outstanding features of chronic hepatitis B infection (CHB) is its strong association with liver fibrosis. CHB induced inflammation and injury trigger multiple biochemical and physical changes that include the promotion of a wide range of cytokines, chemokines and growth factors that activate hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) CHB induced activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) is regarded as a central event in fibrogenesis to directly promote the synthesis of myofibroblasts and the expression of a range of materials to repair injured liver tissue. Fibrogenesis is modulated by the mainstream epigenetic machinery, as well as by non-coding RNA (ncRNA) that are often referred to as an ancillary epigenetic response to fine tune gene expression.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a major contributor to chronic back pain and disability, with limited effective therapeutic options. Current treatment options, including conservative management and surgical interventions, often fail to effectively halt disease progression and come with notable side effects. IVDD is characterized by the breakdown of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the infiltration of inflammatory cells, which exacerbate disc degeneration.

A biomechanical environment constructed exploiting the mechanical property of the extracellular matrix and external loading is essential for cell behaviour. Building suitable mechanical stimuli using feasible scaffold material and moderate mechanical loading is critical in bone tissue engineering for bone repair. However, the detailed mechanism of the mechanical regulation remains ambiguous.

As a complex and dynamically regulated process, wound healing is collaboratively carried out by multiple types of cells. However, the precise mechanisms by which these cells contribute to immune regulation are not yet fully understood. Although research on bone regeneration has been quite extensive, the application of bioactive glass (BG) in skin tissue repair remains still relatively underexplored.

Background: Diabetes characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, has become a serious hazard to human health in the recent decades. Previous research suggests that asprosin may contribute to the development of diabetes by regulating glucose homeostasis, appetite, insulin secretion, and insulin sensitivity. Although some studies have shown that asprosin levels are higher in patients with diabetes than in healthy individuals, the association between asprosin levels and diabetes remains controversial.
