Diagnostic Value of IL-4, IL-10, and Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio in Febrile Seizures During Viral Epidemic Period.

This report aimed to analyze the potential effects of cytokines and neutrophils-to-lymphocytes ratio (NLR) on the occurrence of febrile seizures (FS) in children during the epidemic of novel coronavirus and influenza virus. Between July 2022 and April 2023, clinical data of 422 children with FS hospitalized in the Pediatrics, Shaoxing People's Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Shaoxing University, during the epidemic and non-epidemic periods of novel coronavirus and influenza virus were analyzed. By comparing the various clinical characteristics of children with FS at different periods, comparison of variations in peripheral blood cell count, neutrophils, lymphocytes, hypersensitive C-creation protein, NLR, and inflammatory cytokines.

Exosomal miRNA as biomarker in cancer diagnosis and prognosis: A review.

Exosomes, which are extracellular vesicles with a diameter ranging from 40 to 160 nm, are abundantly present in various body fluids. Exosomal microRNA (ex-miR), due to its exceptional sensitivity and specificity, has garnered significant attention. Notably, ex-miR is consistently detected in almost all bodily fluids, highlighting its potential as a reliable biomarker.

Background: Apatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has shown potential in combination with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in gastric cancer (GC); however, its role in GC is unclear. This research aims to investigate the effect of low-dose apatinib in GC, and analyze the mechanisms of its underlying action.

Methods: A mouse model of GC was established, and the experimental mice were divided into different groups for different treatment: group NS (normal saline), group A (low-dose apatinib 50 mg/kg), group B (high-dose apatinib 200 mg/kg), group C [programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor monotherapy], and group D (PD-1 inhibitor combined with low-dose apatinib).

Introduction: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a highly aggressive lung cancer variant known for its elevated risk of brain metastases (BM). While earlier meta-analyses supported the use of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) to reduce BM incidence and enhance overall survival, modern MRI capabilities raise questions about PCI's universal benefit for limited-stage SCLC (LS-SCLC) patients. As a response, we have created a predictive model for BM, aiming to identify low-risk individuals who may not require PCI.

As the survival rates for prostate cancer (PCa) have improved, there has been an increasing focus on the mental health of couples affected by this condition. There have been several couple-based psychological interventions, and yet the impact of this treatment modality on the mental health of PCa patients and their spouses is unclear. Consequently, a systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, LILACS, and Web of Science up to March 2023 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) addressing the impacts of couple-based psychological interventions on both PCa patients and their spouses.

Preliminary MRS study of critical values of relevant brain metabolites in elderly Chinese patients with post-stroke cognitive impairment.

Objective: Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H-MRS) was applied in this study to detect metabolite changes in the brain of post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) and normal volunteers. The levels of N-acetylaspartate (NAA) and creatinine (Cr) and in the frontal lobe, hippocampus and cingulate gyrus were measured to distinguish patients with post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) and normal control group (NC). The relationship between them and cognitive function was explored and a critical value of the metabolite ratio was predicted.

Association between radiomics features of DCE-MRI and CD8 and CD4 TILs in advanced gastric cancer.

The aim of this investigation was to explore the correlation between the levels of tumor-infiltrating CD8 and CD4 T cells and the quantitative pharmacokinetic parameters of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in patients with advanced gastric cancer. We retrospectively analyzed the data of 103 patients with histopathologically confirmed advanced gastric cancer (AGC). Three pharmacokinetic parameters, K, K, and V, and their radiomics characteristics were obtained by Omni Kinetics software.

Neglected intrapulmonary arteriovenous anastomoses: A comparative study of pulmonary right-to-left shunts in patients with patent foramen ovale.

Objective: Pulmonary right-to-left shunt (P-RLS) and patent foramen ovale right-to-left shunt (PFO-RLS) often appear in combination, and there are often differences and connections between them. Intrapulmonary arteriovenous anastomoses (IPAVAs), as part of P-RLS, are often overlooked because there are no technologies to detect and identify them. This study aimed to further clarify the incidence and characteristics of P-RLS with the help of contrast transesophageal echocardiography (c-TEE) and contrast transthoracic echocardiography (c-TTE), providing a reference for clinically relevant research and patent foramen ovale (PFO) management disposal decisions.

Background: T long-term effects of cognitive therapy and behavior therapy (CTBT) for menopausal symptoms are unknown, and whether the effects are different between natural menopause and treatment-induced menopause are currently unclear. Therefore, we sought to conduct an accurate estimate of the efficacy of CTBT for menopausal symptoms.

Methods: We conducted searches of Cochrane Library, EMBASE, PsycINFO, PubMed, and Web of Science databases for studies from 1 January 1977 to 1 November 2021.

Association Between DCE-MRI Perfusion Histogram Parameters and EGFR and VEGF Expressions in Different Lauren Classifications of Advanced Gastric Cancer.

To investigate the correlations between dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) perfusion histogram parameters and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expressions in advanced gastric cancer (AGC). This retrospective study included 80 pathologically confirmed patients with AGC who underwent DCE-MRI before surgery from February 2017 to May 2021. The DCE-MRI perfusion histogram parameters were calculated by Omni Kinetics software in four quantitative parameter maps.

Relationship between the time point of left atrial size change and the outcomes of radiofrequency catheter ablation.

Purpose: The change in the left atrial anteroposterior diameter (LAD) after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) for atrial fibrillation (AF) has become an independent factor in predicting the postoperative curative effect; however, whether the specific time point of this change is related to the postoperative curative effect is unclear. The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation between the specific time point of LAD change and the recurrence of AF 1 year after RFCA.

Methods: Patients with AF who underwent RFCA in our hospital from July 2016 to May 2020 were enrolled in the study.

Correlation of the detection rate of upper GI cancer with artificial intelligence score: results from a multicenter trial (with video).

Background And Aims: The quality of EGD is a prerequisite for a high detection rate of upper GI lesions, especially early gastric cancer. Our previous study showed that an artificial intelligence system, named intelligent detection endoscopic assistant (IDEA), could help to monitor blind spots and provide an operation score during EGD. Here, we verified the effectiveness of IDEA to help evaluate the quality of EGD in a large-scale multicenter trial.
