Liver malignancies, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), pose a formidable global health challenge. Conventional diagnostic techniques frequently fall short in precision, especially at advanced HCC stages. In response, we have developed a novel diagnostic strategy that integrates hyperspectral imaging with deep learning.

The ocular surface ectoderm (OSE) is essential for the development of the ocular surface, yet the molecular mechanisms driving its differentiation are not fully understood. In this study, we used single-cell transcriptomic analysis to explore the dynamic cellular trajectories and regulatory networks during the differentiation of embryonic stem cells (ESCs) into the OSE lineage. We identified nine distinct cell subpopulations undergoing differentiation along three main developmental branches: neural crest, neuroectodermal, and surface ectodermal lineages.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that arises from diverse etiological factors, resulting in structural alterations and functional impairment of the kidneys. We aimed to establish the Anoikis-related gene signature in CKD by bioinformatics analysis.
Methods: We retrieved 3 datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs), followed by Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) of them, which were intersected with Anoikis-related genes (ARGs) to derive Anoikis-related differentially expressed genes (ARDEGs).

Fabry disease (FD) is a systemic disease in which globotriaosylceramide and other naturally occurring glycosphingolipid accumulate in various tissues throughout the body due to mutation of α-galactosidase A (GLA). These induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were generated from a 10-year-old male patient's urine carrying the GLA c.1080_1082del Fabry disease mutation.

Background: Patients who developed immune-related adverse events (irAEs) could benefit more from treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) than those who did not develop irAEs. This study was designed to assess whether the occurrence of irAEs or their characteristics are correlated with survival in advanced patients treated with ICIs.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study enrolled a panel of cancer patients who received ICIs at a single institute.

Objective: Urinary proteins are effective tumor biomarkers. Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), progastrin-releasing peptide (ProGRP), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragment 21-1(CYFRA 21-1), and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in serum, were proposed as tumor biomarkers of lung cancer. Our aim was to identify the urine protein biomarkers that can distinguish patients with lung cancer from healthy individuals and/or patients with benign lung disease with a high level of sensitivity and specificity.

Background: Phospholipase C epsilon 1 (PLCε1) can hydrolyze phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate and phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate at the plasma membrane and perinuclear membrane in the cardiovascular system, producing lipid-derived second messengers. These messengers are considered prominent triggers for various signal transduction processes. Notably, diverse cardiac phenotypes have been observed in cardiac-specific and global Plce1 knockout mice under conditions of pathological stress.

Cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5 (CDKL5) deficiency disorder (CDD) is a neurodevelopmental syndrome caused by mutations in the X-linked CDKL5 gene. The early onset of CDD suggests that CDKL5 is essential during development, but post-developmental re-expression rescues multiple CDD-related phenotypes in hemizygous male mice. Since most patients are heterozygous females, studies in clinically relevant female models are essential.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (KIRC) is the most prevalent subtype of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), accounting for 70% to 80% of all RCC cases. The CRYAB (αB-crystallin) gene is broadly expressed across various human tissues, yet its role in KIRC progression remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the function of CRYAB in KIRC progression and to assess its potential as a biomarker for early diagnosis, therapeutic targeting, and prognosis.

Background And Aims: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a key therapeutic approach for pediatric patients with hematologic and non-hematologic disorders. However, post-transplant pulmonary complications remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) are essential for the early detection of pulmonary dysfunction, yet their application in pediatric HSCT recipients has yielded inconsistent results.

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is linked to an increased risk of frailty, yet it remains unclear whether the non-insulin-based IR indicators are associated with frailty trajectories and physical function decline. It aimed to examine the associations of triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR), estimated glucose disposal rate (eGDR) and with long-term deficit-accumulation frailty trajectories and physical function decline.

Tissue-resident memory T (TRM) cells possess unique abilities to migrate, establish themselves in tissues, and monitor peripheral tissues without circulating. They are crucial in providing long-lasting and local immune protection against surface infections. TRMs demonstrate distinct phenotypic and functional characteristics compared to central memory T (Tcm) cells and effector memory T (Tem) cells.

Background: Skin innervation is very important for normal wound healing, and receptor activity-modifying protein 1 (RAMP1) has been reported to modulate calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor function and thus be a potential treatment target. This study aimed to elucidate the intricate regulatory effect of RAMP1 on skin fibroblast function, thereby addressing the existing knowledge gap in this area.
Methods: Immunohistochemical staining and immunofluorescence (IF) staining were used to measure the dynamic changes in the expression of RAMP1 and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in skin wound tissue in mice.
