Objective To investigate the effect of basic helix-loop-helix family member E40 (BHLHE40) on the invasion and migration of osteosarcoma (OS) cells, and to explore the role of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) signaling pathway in the biological behavior of OS mediated by BHLHE40, providing a scientific basis for targeted therapy of OS. Methods On the basis of clinical OS samples and OS cell lines, the expression differences of BHLHE40 between OS and adjacent tissues, as well as those between OS cells and normal osteoblast cell lines, were analyzed. BHLHE40 knockdown OS cells were obtained through shRNA transfection.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study assessed the safety and effectiveness of combining camrelizumab and apatinib in patients with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) who previously received immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).
  • - Out of 49 patients treated, the confirmed objective response rate was 10.2%, with a disease control rate of 69.4% and median progression-free survival of 4.6 months.
  • - The results indicated that the response rate was modest and did not show significant improvement, though the treatment had a manageable safety profile with no treatment-related deaths reported.

In this paper, triphenylamine served as the structural core and was bonded to aromatic groups having various substituents [-OH, -OMe, or -N(Et)] by a =N-N= chain and then connected with aromatic groups having various substituents [-OH, -OMe, or -N(Et)]. The geometric and electronic properties of these probes were examined. It was found that the presence of electron donors enhanced the selectivity and emission quantum yield (QY).

Unintended pregnancy for female patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) raises the discussion of treatment choices due to the teratogenicity of tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI). We report 51 accidental pregnant CML chronic phase (CP) patients with TKI withdrawal immediately after pregnancy from December 2010 to February 2024 to observe the effect of short exposure to TKI on the fetus and the infant outcomes. 59 pregnancies resulted in 100% normal childbirth without birth abnormalities.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has achieved high clinical efficacy in treating malignancies in recent years and is thus gradually becoming an important therapy for patients with advanced tumor for its benefits in reducing side effects and improving patients' immune status. However, it has not been internationally recognized for cancer treatment because TCM's anti-tumor mechanism is not fully elucidated, limiting its clinical application and international promotion. This review traced the mechanism of the TCM-mediated tumor cell death pathway and its effect on remodeling the tumor immune microenvironment, its direct impact on the microenvironment, its anti-tumor effect in combination with immunotherapy, and the current status of clinical application of TCM on tumor treatment.
