Prostate cancer is a major contributor to male mortality worldwide. In this study, we revealed that Ankyrin Repeat and SOCS Box Containing 1 (ASB1) expression was significantly decreased in prostate cancer tissues, correlating strongly with poor patient prognosis. Notably, the group with low ASB1 expression exhibited an increased proportion of M2 macrophages and showed resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors and cisplatin, but remained sensitive to androgen-receptor-targeting drug bicalutamide.

Objective: Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an effective therapeutic option for unresectable brainstem metastases. Currently, staged stereotactic radiosurgery (SSRS) has become available for large brainstem metastases(≥ 1 cm) despite the limitation of peritumoral edema. The authors developed the so-called "sandwich therapy" which integrated 2-stage stereotactic radiosurgery (2-SSRS) with bevacizumab for peritumoral edema reduction and local control of large brainstem metastases.

Different m7G methyltransferases (writers) load the m7G-cap at the 5'-terminal or inside the RNAs. For example, writers such as methyltransferase-like 1 (METTL1)/WD repeat domain 4 (WDR4) and Williams-Beuren syndrome chromosome region 22 (WBSCR22) have been reported in mammals to promote cell proliferation, EMT, and chemoresistance in massive quantities of cancers.

Objective: Immunogenic cell death (ICD) of tumor cells is characterized by the induction of adaptive and innate immune responses, which in turn activates the immune surveillance and improves the efficacy of immunotherapy. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of ICD on the prognosis and the efficacy of immunotherapy in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
Methods: TNBC samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas-Breast Cancer (TCGA-BRCA) dataset were divided into two subtypes (ICD-high and ICD-low) based on the ICD status by using the consensus clustering method, and their genomic landscape and immune landscape were delineated.

BRAF mutation occurs frequently in colorectal cancer (CRC), which is associated with poor prognosis. Numerous clinical studies have indicated the undesirable effect of BRAF mutation in CRC patients; however, in vitro studies on the role and functional mechanism of BRAF mutation in CRC are limited. Here, we analyzed the association between BRAF mutation and the clinical features of CRC by using data deposited in the TCGA database.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is a common malignancy of urologic neoplasms. Hepcidin is a pivotal modulator of iron metabolism involved in human cancers; however, the biological significance of hepcidin in ccRCC remains to be fully understood. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the expression profiles of hepcidin in ccRCC from several public databases and found that hepcidin expression was upregulated in ccRCC, which was further validated in ccRCC cell lines, clinical samples, and tissue microarray (TMA) quantitative real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry.

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles with unique membrane markers and components that participate in cellular communication. The contents of exosomes, including growth factors, microRNAs, long noncoding RNAs, and circular RNAs (circRNAs), have been recognized as prognostic biomarkers and promote cancer progression through cancer cell growth, metastasis, angiogenesis, and cancer development. One of the components of exosomes, circRNAs, are covalently closed and prevented from degrading, which results in their continually accumulating in exosomes.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most deadly malignant cancer in the world and has the third highest mortality rate among cancer-related deaths worldwide. Its poor prognosis can be attributed to late diagnosis, high risk of recurrence and drug resistance. Therefore, finding a new biomarker to help us in the early diagnosis, and exploring the molecular mechanisms involved in recurrence and drug resistance is a reasonable research direction for clinical treatment of HCC.

Background: Pyroptosis is a form of inflammatory cell death. Although it is recognized that NLRP3 (nucleotide-binding domain, leucine-rich repeat-containing family, pyrin domain-containing 3) inflammasome is involved in pyroptosis activation, the mechanism by which head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) inhibits pyroptotic cell death remains undefined. This study aims to delineate the role of calcium regulator CD38 in NLRP3 inflammasome-dependent pyroptosis in HNSCC.

Paclitaxel (Ptx), a microtubule depolymerization inhibitor, is one of the first-line regimens in lung cancer chemotherapy. However, the poor solubility of Ptx, as well as hypersensitivity of the solvent Cremphor EL, severely limits its clinical application. Here we developed a drug-polymer conjugate of Ptx-SA-PEG, in which amphiphilic copolymers poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and Ptx were conjugated by succinic acid (SA).
