Background: High expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) has been related to good response to immunotherapy patients with gastric cancer (GC). However, the influence of Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection on PD-L1 expression in GC remains unknown. A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the association between HP infection and PD-L1 expression in GC.

Background: The predictive role of blood-based tumor mutation burden (bTMB) for selecting advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who might benefit from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is still under debate. Therefore, the purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy of programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) /programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) inhibitors versus that of standard-of-care therapy in patients with NSCLC who were bTMB high and bTMB low.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, the Web of Science, and ClinicalTrials.

Inflammasomes are large multimolecular complexes best recognized because of their ability to control activation of caspase-1, which in turn regulates the maturation of interleukin-18 (IL-18) and interleukin-1 β (IL-1β). IL-1β was originally identified as a pro-inflammatory cytokine, capable of inducing local and systemic inflammation as well as a fever response reaction in response to infection or injury. Excessive production of IL-1β is related to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the second most common cancer in China. The ToGA study showed that trastuzumab in combination with fluoropyrimidine plus cisplatin prolonged overall survival (OS) in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive advanced GC (AGC). However, some patients may not be able to receive this regimen.

Objective: This study is implemented to probe into the function of lncRNA SBF2-AS1 as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to sponge microRNA-142-3p (miR-142-3p) in modulating TWF1 expression in the gemcitabine resistance of pancreatic cancer.

Results: LncRNA SBF2-AS1 was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer tissues and cells. SBF2-AS1 was found to be associated with gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer.

Cellular senescence is strongly tied to vascular disease. The current study aims to examine ways that endothelial cellular senescence can be prevented and the mechanisms by which prevention of senescence occurs. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were exposed to TNF-α to induce senescence; then salicin was administered in two doses - 50 and 100 µM - to establish a dose-dependent effect of salicin on SA-β-Gal, G1 cell cycle arrest, expression of p21 and PAI-1, p53 acetylation at K382, NRF2 and oxidative stress.

A number of studies investigated the distribution of BMD values and the prevalence of osteoporosis in China, but their findings varied. Until now, a BMD reference database based on uniform measurements in a large-scale Chinese population has been lacking. A total of 75,321 Chinese adults aged 20 years and older were recruited from seven centers between 2008 and 2018.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to explore the function and mechanism of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonist (PPARγ) in the toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)/nod-like receptor with pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammatory corpuscle pathway of asthmatic mice. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighteen female mice (C57) were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group, the asthma model group challenged by ovalbumin (OVA), the rosiglitazone group, and the PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone treatment group. The infiltration of peribronchial inflammatory cells as well as the proliferation and mucus secretion of bronchial epithelial goblet cells were observed by hematoxylin and eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining.

Background/aims: Although oxaliplatin is one of the most effective chemotherapeutic drugs used to treat colorectal cancer (CRC), long-term administration usually induces acquired drug resistance during the course of treatment. Thus, there is an urgent need to explore novel strategies to improve the efficiency of cancer therapy. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of microRNA-122 (miR-122) on reversing oxaliplatin resistance in CRC.
