Objectives: Celastrus orbiculatus ethyl acetate extract (COE) is the main extract of the stem of the Chinese herbal C. orbiculatus, which has anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory biological effects. Our previous study showed that COE had a certain reversal effect on the precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC) in rats, but the exact mechanism of action remains elusive.

Background: Cough is a common symptom during and after COVID-19 infection; however, few studies have described the cough profiles of COVID-19.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence, severity, and associated risk factors of severe and persistent cough in individuals with COVID-19 during the latest wave of the Omicron variant in China.

Methods: In this nationwide cross-sectional study, we collected information of the characteristics of cough from individuals with infection of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant using an online questionnaire sent between December 31, 2022, and January 11, 2023.

Background: The question of whether eradication of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) can reverse gastric precancerous lesions, including intestinal metaplasia, remains uncertain, leading to ongoing debate. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of Hp eradication on gastric precancerous lesions.

Objective: This study is implemented to probe into the function of lncRNA SBF2-AS1 as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to sponge microRNA-142-3p (miR-142-3p) in modulating TWF1 expression in the gemcitabine resistance of pancreatic cancer.

Results: LncRNA SBF2-AS1 was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer tissues and cells. SBF2-AS1 was found to be associated with gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer.

The aim of this study was to determine whether transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS)- and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided aspiration biopsy allows detection of a malignant pathology of pelvic/pelvic masses. Data of 40 patients with pelvic and pelvic mass lesions by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging underwent TVUS- or TRUS-guided biopsy.

The current study aims to examine ways that endothelial cellular senescence can be prevented and the mechanisms by which prevention of senescence occurs. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were exposed to TNF-α to induce senescence; then salicin was administered in two doses - 50 and 100 µM - to establish a dose-dependent effect of salicin on SA-β-Gal, G1 cell cycle arrest, expression of p21 and PAI-1, p53 acetylation at K382, NRF2 and oxidative stress.

Background & Aims: We performed a nationwide, retrospective study to determine the incidence and causes of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in mainland China.

Methods: We collected data on a total of 25,927 confirmed DILI cases, hospitalized from 2012 through 2014 at 308 medical centers in mainland China. We collected demographic, medical history, treatment, laboratory, disease severity, and mortality data from all patients.

BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to explore the function and mechanism of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonist (PPARγ) in the toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2)/nod-like receptor with pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammatory corpuscle pathway of asthmatic mice. MATERIAL AND METHODS Eighteen female mice (C57) were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group, the asthma model group challenged by ovalbumin (OVA), the rosiglitazone group, and the PPARγ agonist rosiglitazone treatment group. The infiltration of peribronchial inflammatory cells as well as the proliferation and mucus secretion of bronchial epithelial goblet cells were observed by hematoxylin and eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining.

[Application of MDCT and post-processing in children with tracheal foreign body].

To explore the clinical value of MDCT and post-processing in children with suspected foreign body in trachea.Two hundred patients with suspected tracheal foreign body were treated with 64-slice spiral CT (MDCT) and simulated endoscopic imaging,then compared with seen in bronchoscopy; Compare the results of MDCT and post-processing with the coincidence of intraoperative findings.One hundred and eighty-four cases of positive children were examined by MDCT postprocessing technique and bronchoscopy,179 cases were obstructed by exogenous foreign body,5 cases were phlegm thrombosis (endogenous foreign body) obstruction; 16 cases of children with no foreign body diagnosed by MDCT post-processing technique were also examined by bronchoscopy.

Osthole induces apoptosis and suppresses proliferation via the PI3K/Akt pathway in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Osthole is a natural coumarin isolated from Umbelliferae plant monomers. Previous research has indicated that osthole exerts a wide variety of biological effects, acting as anti-seizure, anti-osteoporosis and anti-inflammation. However, the regulatory effect and related molecular mechanism of osthole in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remain unknown.

[Treatment of intractable aspiration after partial laryngectomy by cuffed tracheostomy tube with inner cannula].

To evaluate the efficacy of cuffed tracheostomy tube with inner cannula for the treatment of intractable aspiration after partial laryngectomy. From May 2010 to June 2015, 15 patients with intractable aspiration after partial laryngectomy of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal carcinoma were enrolled. Cuffed tracheostomy tube with inner cannula was used in the 15 patients for treatment of intractable aspiration.

[Effects of different sedation regimens on sedation and inflammatory response in critically ill children with multiple trauma].

Objective: To compare the sedation and anti-inflammatory effects of dexmedetomidine and midazolam on critical ill children with multiple trauma.

Methods: A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted. Sixty-five critical ill children with multiple trauma admitted to pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) of Anhui Province Children's Hospital from January 2014 to September 2016 were enrolled, who were randomly divided into dexmedetomidine group (33 cases) and midazolam group (32 cases).

Background: To investigate the efficiency of surgical operation for patients over 70 years with hypopharyngeal cancer.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of the medical records from 68 patients over 70 years-old with hypopharyngeal cancer who underwent different therapeutic regimen between 2000 and 2009 was conducted. 36 of 68 patients underwent larynx preservation.

Modulatory role of garlicin in migration and invasion of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma via PI3K/AKT pathway.

Increasing evidences have indicated the role of garlicin in inhibiting the progression of various tumors including glioma, pulmonary carcinoma and pancreatic carcinoma, via mediating cell apoptosis or cell cycle. The regulatory effect and related molecular mechanism of garlicin in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, however, remained unknown. This study thus aimed to investigate this scientific issue.

Clinical analysis of patients with myeloperoxidase antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis.

This prospective study analyzed the clinical characteristics of myeloperoxidase antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (MPO-ANCA)-associated vasculitis and explored the relationship between MPO-ANCA and clinical manifestations of the associated vasculitis in 132 p-ANCA and MPO-ANCA-positive patients (average age, 62.3 ± 14.8 years) who were initially diagnosed with ANCA-associated vasculitis.
