Hepatic fibrosarcoma (HF) is a rare sarcoma with a high malignancy and a poor prognosis. Moreover, it is hard to diagnose before completing a pathological examination, for HF has almost no features of clinical or imaging manifestations. Here we report a case of HF in a 42-year-old male who complained of pain in the right upper abdomen.

Alternative splicing (AS) has been widely reported to play an important role in cancers, including esophageal carcinoma (ESCA). However, no study has comprehensively investigated the clinical use of combination of prognostic AS events and clinicopathological parameters. Therefore, we collected 165 ESCA patients including 83 esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and 82 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas to explore the survival rate associated with seven types of AS events.

Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a highly invasive malignancy which has unique characteristics when found among individuals from certain ethnic or geographic populations. The role and molecular mechanism of Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) in NPC remain yet to be clarified. Hence, the aim of this study is to identify the clinical implications of PLK1 in NPC based on gene chip, tissue microarray, and other silico approaches.

Growing evidence has revealed that the initiation of various malignancies is closely associated with alternative splicing (AS) events in certain key oncogenes. However, in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), there is still a great deal to learn about AS variants. In this study, 33,724 AS variant profiles were obtained from 16,278 genes in 48 DLBCL cases.

Department of Ultrasonography, First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University 6 Shuangyong Road, Nanning 530021, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China.

Background: The mechanism of microRNAs (miRNAs) in thyroid cancer is still unclear. We identified miRNAs with differential expression in thyroid cancer versus normal tissues.

Methods: Microarray datasets were obtained from the GEO and ArrayExpress databases, and from publications found via PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science.

Since urothelial cancer associated 1 (UCA1) was discovered in human bladder cancer, it has been reported to be dysregulated expressed in various kinds of solid tumors. But the clinical role and the function of UCA1 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains incompletely understood. In this study, we mined the data of UCA1 expression in NSCLC from Oncomine, Gene expression profiling interactive analysis (GEPIA) and cBioPortal to analyze the contribution of UCA1 in the cancer initiation and progression of NSCLC.

Background: The relationship between Ki-67 labeling index (LI) and clinical outcome in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been investigated by various studies, but no consistent result has been concluded. To define the prognostic significance of Ki-67 LI in patients with HCC, we performed a meta-analysis.

Methods: We searched for literatures in the following databases: PubMed, ISI Web of Science, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Google Scholar, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese VIP and WanFang Databases.

Various studies have evaluated the relationship between Caspase-3 expression and cancers of digestive tract. However, the prognostic value of Caspase-3 expression remains unclear. Hence, a meta-analysis was conducted with eligible studies which quantitatively evaluated the relationship between Caspase-3 expression and survival of patients in gastrointestinal tract cancers.

Background: Accumulated studies have revealed that vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays an essential role in the progression of glioma, but the prognostic significance of VEGF expression for patients with glioma remains unknown.

Method And Material: A literature search of public databases (PubMed, ISI Web of Science, Science Direct, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Wiley Online Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Biology Medicine disc, Chongqing VIP and Wan Fang Data) was conducted. A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the association between the overexpression of VEGF and the survival for the glioma patients.

Unlabelled: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a primary malignancy of the liver, is associated with high mortality rate and poor prognosis. Emerging evidence showed that novel biomarkers are required toward a better understanding of the biological mechanisms of HCC. NEAT1 (nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1, also known as MENε/β), a novel long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), serves as a crucial regulator in several cancers.

Objectives: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, non-coding RNAs that have been increasingly shown important roles in various classes of cancers. However, miR-1269 has not been comprehensively studied in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Thus, the purpose of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the expression of miR-1269 and clinicopathological parameters in HCC patients, and to predict its potential target genes.

Primary urinary bladder adenosquamous carcinoma is extremely rare and only a few cases have been reported in English literatures. Its biological behavior remains unclear. Here we reported a 60-year-old male patient with lower limb deep venous thromboses associated with primary urinary bladder adenosquamous carcinoma.

The interleukin-1 receptor associated kinases 1 (IRAK1) is a down stream effector molecule of the toll like receptor (TLR) signaling pathway, which is involved in inflammation, autoimmunity and cancer. However, the role of IRAK1 in lung cancer remains unclarified. Herein, we investigated the protein expression and the clinicopathological significance of IRAK1 in 3 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded lung cancer tissue microarrays by using immunohistochemistry, which included 365 tumor and 30 normal lung tissues.
