Novel formulations ameliorate osteoarthritis in rats by inhibiting inflammation and oxidative stress.

The study tested new oral plant-based formulations (F) on rats with monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis, measuring inflammation, antioxidant levels, paw size, stride, and analyzing knee joint images. Fifty-six female Sprague Dawley rats were allocated into 8 groups: (1) Control, (2) MIA (OA induced with MIA), (3) MIA + F1 [curcuminoids+gingerols+acetyl-11-keto-β boswellic acid (AKBA)], (4) MIA + F2 (curcuminoids+Withania glycosides+AKBA), (5) MIA + F3 (curcuminoids+total withanolides+AKBA), (6) MIA + F4 (curcuminoids, AKBA), (7) MIA + UCII (type II collagen), and (8) MIA + GCHON (Glucosamine Chondroitin). Treatments F1 to F4 reduced right joint diameter and improved stride length and paw area in OA rats.

Relationship between the clinical outcomes and the systemic inflammatory response index and systemic immune inflammation index after total knee arthroplasty.

Background: Periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is an extremely damaging complication that can occur after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). There is no study in the literature investigating the relationship between systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and systemic inflammation immune index (SII) values and prognosis and infection in patients who have undergone TKA. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the inflammatory index values and the rate of PJI in patients who had previously had TKA.

Morphology of pollen in genus (Apiaceae).

In this study, the pollen morphology of all species distributed throughout the country of Turkey was studied with light and scanning electron microscopy for the first time. The aim is to identify the pollen morphological characteristics of 23 species. The pollen is radially symmetrical, isopolar and tricolporate in all examined species.

Can renalase be a novel candidate biomarker for distinguishing renal tumors?

Renalase (RNLS) is synthesized mainly in renal tissues. The function of RNLS in cancerous renal tissues has not been investigated. We investigated the synthesis of RNLS in chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, papillary renal cell carcinoma and clear cell renal cell carcinoma with Fuhrman grades (FG): FG1, nucleoli are absent or inconspicuous and basophilic; FG2, nucleoli are conspicuous and eosinophilic and visible but not prominent; FG3, nucleoli are conspicuous and eosinophilic; FG4, extreme nuclear pleomorphism, multinucleate giant cells, and/or rhabdoid and/or sarcomatoid differentiation.

Elemental analysis of ignimbirite by Raman spectroscopy methods and instrumental neutron activation analysis.

The mineralogy, trace and minor element geochemistry and different color changes of Bitlisignimbirite (eastern Turkey) were measured with Neutron Activation Analysis and Confocal Raman spectrometr methods. From these analyzes, were determined three levels as lower, middle and upper according to texture, color, welded degree, component and chemical differences in Bitlis ignimbrites in study area. The most distinguishing feature observed in black, red and grey color ignimbirite levels are partially mineralogical compositions, fiamme geometry and appearance of different colors.

Methods: Forty-two Sprague-Dawley male rats were divided into six groups. The rats were fed either (a): a standard diet (Control) or (b): a HFD or (c): a HFD with biotin (HFD+B) or (d): a combination of HFD and biotin along with CrPic (HFD + B + CrPic) or (e): a combination of HFD and biotin along with CrHis (HFD + B + CrHis) or (f): a combination of HFD and biotin along with CrHis and CrPic (HFD + B + CrHis + CrPic).

Hormone receptor status and survival of medullary breast cancer patients. A Turkish cohort.

Objectives: To analyze the relationship between clinical features, hormonal receptor status, and survival in patients who were diagnosed with medullary breast cancer (MBC). Methods: Demographic characteristics, histopathological features, and survival statuses of 201 patients diagnosed with MBC between 1995 and 2015 were retrospectively recorded. Survival analyses were conducted with uni- and multivariate cox regression analysis.

Increased frequency of restless legs syndrome in atopic dermatitis.

Background: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is characterized by an unpleasant sensation in the legs, which is difficult to describe, but produces an urge to move the legs frequently.

Aim: To assess the prevalence and severity of RLS in patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) and patients with psoriasis, and to investigate the factors potentially associated with RLS.

Methods: In total, 253 people were enrolled (120 with AD, 50 with psoriasis and 83 healthy controls).
