Objectives: In this ecological study, we describe SARS-CoV-2 case incidence for school age and adult populations, COVID-19 hospitalisation and death rates during Delta and the early Omicron periods, before and after schools reopened in five countries.

Methods: Data were extracted from government websites. Cases and COVID-19 hospitalisation and death incidence rates were calculated during the Delta and early Omicron periods in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland and the United Kingdom, for two weeks preceding and six weeks after schools reopened.

Introduction: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous condition that includes a spectrum of oral clinical manifestations ranging from mild painless white lesions to painful erosions and ulcers. The purpose of this European multicenter study is to describe the general characteristics of OLP lesions, the clinical and histopathological diagnosis, and the management of OLP at different European Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Surgery centers, in order to minimize selections biases and provide information about the current trends in the treatment of OLP across Europe.

Materials And Methods: Data and histopathological records of patients with OLP were retrospectively revised and only those patients that fulfilled the diagnostic criteria from the 2016 position paper by American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology were included.

This study elucidates the utility and efficacy of UV-visible spectroscopy for the detection and characterization of biological contaminants within microalgae cultures, augmented by machine learning algorithms. Biological contamination, exemplified by flagellates and rotifers, poses a significant concern due to its potential to rapidly devastate entire cultures, thus jeopardizing commercial viability. Conventional analytical methods for monitoring contamination, such as microscopy and cytometry, are often labor-intensive, reliant on specialized expertise for microorganism identification, and may lack specificity in discerning the nature of contamination, impeding timely intervention.

Canine pyometra is a common and potentially life-threatening reproductive disorder in intact female dogs. This prospective study aimed to (1) investigate the bacterial spectrum and antimicrobial susceptibilities of bacterial isolates from the uterus and urine of dogs with pyometra, (2) assess the clonal relatedness and virulence factors of Escherichia coli isolates from individual dogs, and (3) determine the occurrence of concurrent and persistent bacteriuria or clinical urinary tract infections. Bacterial isolates from 208 uterine and 203 urine specimens collected during pyometra surgery were analyzed.
