To evaluate shade matching ability of one-shade composites used for repair of different resin-based restorative materials. Two one-shade composites or one layering composite of 1 mm thickness were placed over non-aged or aged 3 different base materials of 1 mm thickness to simulate repair. Two millimeters thick base samples were prepared and used for reference (n=12).

Circular RNAs in neuroblastoma: Pathogenesis, potential biomarker, and therapeutic target.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is a common cancer in childhood responsible for 15 % of fatalities by pediatric cancers. Epigenetic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of NB. Recently, it has been demonstrated that circular RNAs (circRNAs, ciRNAs), a newly identified class of non-coding RNAs, are also dysregulated in NB.

Background: Methotrexate (MT) is a broadly used chemotherapeutic drug however its clinical use is confronted with several forms of toxicities containing testicular damage. The current study assessed the ameliorative effects of morin on MT-induced testicular damage with the investigation of its mechanism and the potential involvement of oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress in such protection.

Cities with integrated university campuses can become dependent on their student population to function properly. Restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic put a temporary halt to the presence of the student population in some cities. The current study explores this short-term paradigm shift on the relationship between three higher education institutes and their host cities in the northern part of Cyprus.

Management of Post-Traumatic Dental Care Anxiety in Pediatric Dental Practice-A Clinical Study.

Background: It is important to avoid giving children traumatic dental experiences that induce post-traumatic dental care anxiety (PTDA) in clinical dental practices. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether non-pharmacological behavior management procedures can effectively reduce the use of pharmacological behavior management in children who have PTDA and are referred for regular dental treatments under general anesthesia (GA) and sedation.

Objective: This study seeks to empirically investigate how the changing eating habits affect health habits within three countries with entirely different cultures and diets to understand to what extent the pandemic may be responsible for these changes.

Design: Specifically, a questionnaire was conducted in China, Portugal and Turkey in early 2021. A series of statistical analyses were performed to identify how changes in individuals' eating habits have influenced their diets, considering the pandemic context and the varying cultural contexts where this research was performed.

Physical design studio has been the mainstream method of architectural pedagogy for more than a century. Although the past two decades have brought forth emerging possibilities via advancements in digital communication, Virtual Design Studio (VDS) remained an experimental novelty until 2020. The interruption of face-to-face educational activities saw architecture schools facing a rapid paradigm shift because their studio-centred pedagogy retains intrinsic spatial qualities that are often attributed as critical dimensions of the learning process.

Presently, the studies focusing on the toxic effects of sodium fluoride (NaF) on heart tissue at biochemical and molecular level are limited.

Background: Methotrexate (MTX), a chemotherapeutic agent, is known to cause oral mucositis. Chitosan has been shown to have a protective effect in inflammatory animal models. This research aimed to examine the protective effect of chitosan against oral mucositis caused by MTX.

Teledentistry as a Supportive Tool for Dentists in Diagnosing MRONJ in Northern Cyprus.

Objective: This web-based survey, as a tool of teledentistry, is aimed at assessing the level of knowledge, attitudes, and awareness regarding MRONJ among dental professionals in Northern Cyprus.

Methods: An online self-administered questionnaire about MRONJ was sent to all dentists in Northern Cyprus through Google Forms. The first part of the questionnaire consists of demographic and professional information, and the second part included questions about knowledge and awareness questions about MRONJ.

The surgery of the impacted mandibular third molar is the most frequent procedure in dentistry. The prescription of systemic antibiotics after the third molar extraction is widespread among dentists, but this is still argumentative. This study is aimed at evaluating the postoperative effects of local antibiotic mixed with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and a postoperative systemic antibiotic prescribed for mandibular third molar surgery.

Impacts of COVID-19 on changing patterns of household food consumption: An intercultural study of three countries.

In light of COVID-19's effects on individuals' social, economic, political, and psychological values, this paper aims to investigate the pandemic's role in possible changes to people's food consumption and meal habits in three countries, namely China, Portugal, and Turkey. The sample includes individuals from the three countries, exploratory factor analysis and non-parametric tests were used to test the differences. Results suggest that coronavirus has played a strong part in altering households' food consumption and meal habits within these countries.

Children With Dyscalculia Show Hippocampal Hyperactivity During Symbolic Number Perception.

Dyscalculia is a learning disability affecting the acquisition of arithmetical skills in children with normal intelligence and age-appropriate education. Two hypotheses attempt to explain the main cause of dyscalculia. The first hypothesis suggests that a problem with the core mechanisms of perceiving (non-symbolic) quantities is the cause of dyscalculia (core deficit hypothesis), while the alternative hypothesis suggests that dyscalculics have problems only with the processing of numerical symbols (access deficit hypothesis).

An Objective Measure of Splitting in Parental Alienation: The Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire.

Both clinicians and forensic practitioners should distinguish parental alienation (rejection of a parent without legitimate justification) from other reasons for contact refusal. Alienated children-who were not abused-often engage in splitting and lack ambivalence with respect to the rejected parent; children who were maltreated usually perceive the abusive parent in an ambivalent manner. The purpose of this study was to assess the usefulness of the Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ) in identifying and quantifying the degree of splitting, which may assist in diagnosing parental alienation.
