Objectives: To investigate the correlation of serum levels of bridging integrating factor 1 (BIN1) with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and Killip class of the patients.
Methods: We retrospectively collected the data from 94 patients with AMI and 30 healthy individuals for analysis of the correlations of serum BIN1 levels with Killip class, TIMI scores, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR). We also assessed the diagnostic value of BIN1 combined with NLR for AMI.
Background: Growing evidence indicates a significant correlation between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometrial carcinoma (EC); nevertheless, the fundamental molecular mechanisms involved continue to be unclear.
Methods: Initially, differential analysis, the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression, and support vector machine-recursive feature elimination (SVM-RFE) algorithms were employed to identify candidate genes associated with ferroptosis in PCOS. Subsequently, the TCGA-UCEC data were utilized to pinpoint the core gene.

Background: Effective therapeutic approaches for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN) with irreversible deterioration of renal function are currently lacking. In this study, we aimed to investigate the ability of the glucagon-likepeptide-1 (GLP-1)/ gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) dual agonist, tirzepatide to alleviate DN in mice and its underlying mechanisms.
Methods: We investigated the reno-protective effect of semaglutide and tirzepatide in a mouse model of DN, an insulin-treated positive control group was also included.

Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) type IIb (FCD IIb) is an epileptogenic malformation of the neocortex that is characterized by cortical dyslamination, dysmorphic neurons (DNs) and balloon cells (BCs). Approximately 30-60% of lesions are associated with brain somatic mutations in the mTOR pathway. Herein, we investigated the transcriptional changes around the DNs and BCs regions in freshly frozen brain samples from three patients with FCD IIb by using spatial transcriptomics.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the malignant tumor of the digestive system with the highest incidence and mortality rate worldwide. Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) of the large intestine have unique morphological characteristics, special growth patterns and higher malignant potential. Therefore, LSTs are a precancerous lesion of CRC that could be easily missed.

Several studies have investigated the role of HIF-1α in predicting the prognosis of patients with glioblastoma, yielding contradictory results. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to document the correlation between HIF-1α and glioblastoma in individuals diagnosed with glioblastoma. We searched the PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Web of Science by January 25, 2024.

Background: Leukocyte transendothelial migration-related genes (LTEMGs) play a crucial role in the immune response and have been extensively studied in various pathological conditions, including inflammation, infection, and cancer. In recent years, increasing attention has been given to understanding the biological mechanisms of LTEMGs in the context of tumor progression and metastasis. The potential function of LTEMGs in cancer progression remains unclear.

Radiotherapy is widely regarded as the primary therapeutic modality for nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). Studies have shown that cancer cells with high resistance to radiation, known as radioresistant cancer cells, may cause residual illness, which in turn might contribute to the occurrence of cancer recurrence and metastasis. It has been shown that cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) exhibit resistance to radiation therapy.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is one of the common microvascular complications of diabetes, and there are still lack of effective treatments. Huaiqihuang (HQH) is a kind of traditional Chinese medicine mixed preparation, which is mainly made of Trametes robiniophila Murr, Fructus Lycii, and Polygonatum sibiricumhas. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of DKD, but the specific mechanism has not been fully elucidated.

Background: IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is intimately linked to mucosal immune responses, with nasopharyngeal and intestinal lymphoid tissues being crucial for its abnormal mucosal immunity. The specific pathogenic bacteria in these sites associated with IgAN, however, remain elusive. Our study employs 16S rRNA sequencing and machine learning (ML) approaches to identify specific pathogenic bacteria in these locations and to investigate common pathogens that may exacerbate IgAN.

Sepsis-related brain injury (SRBI) refers to brain dysfunction and structural damage caused by sepsis, which is characterized by inflammation, oxidative stress, and destruction of the blood-brain barrier. Pioglitazone is a PPAR-γ agonist in which PPAR-γ acts as an inflammatory modulator, determining the relationship between PPAR-γ and SRBI and inflammatory state is critical for the disease. This study aimed to construct a drug-target-disease network for SRBI and Pioglitazone based on network pharmacology, and to investigate the therapeutic effect and potential mechanism of Pioglitazone in SRBI induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in rats through transcriptomics.

Objective: 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is a precursor of the photosensitizer Protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) with 5-ALA has been used in clinical practice. However, tumor cellular hypoxia severely affects the efficiency of photodynamic therapy. In this study, photodynamic therapy was combined with tirapazamine to investigate the effects of the combined intervention and the related mechanisms it may involve.

As a cutting-edge technology of connecting biological brain and external devices, brain-computer interface (BCI) exhibits promising applications on extensive fields such as medical and military. As for the disable individuals with four limbs losing the motor functions, it is a potential treatment way to drive mechanical equipments by the means of non-invasive BCI, which is badly depended on the accuracy of the decoded electroencephalogram (EEG) singles. In this study, an explanatory convolutional neural network namely EEGNet based on SimAM attention module was proposed to enhance the accuracy of decoding the EEG singles of index and thumb fingers for both left and right hand using sensory motor rhythm (SMR).
