Background: Life-limited patients may lose decision-making abilities during disease progression. Advance care planning can be used as a discussion method for healthcare professionals to understand patients' future care preferences. However, due to many difficulties, the participation rate of healthcare professionals in advance care planning is not high.

Background: Hepatoblastoma (HB), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and embryonal sarcoma (ES) are the three main types of liver tumors in children and adolescents. At present, epidemiological knowledge and predictors of these three liver tumor types in multi-ethnic populations are limited. This study aimed to outline the clinical features and construct a prognostic nomogram for these tumors, which can contribute to the prediction of dynamic overall survival probability during the follow-up period.

Biomechanical study of the stiffness of the femoral locking compression plate of an external fixator for lower tibial fractures.

Background: A locking compression plate (LCP) of the distal femur is used as an external fixator for lower tibial fractures. However, in clinical practice, the technique lacks a standardized approach and a strong biomechanical basis for its stability.

Methods: In this paper, internal tibial LCP fixator (Group IT-44), external tibial LCP fixator (Group ET-44), external distal femoral LCP fixator (Group EF-44, group EF-33, group EF-22), and conventional external fixator (Group CEF-22) frames were used to fix unstable fracture models of the lower tibial segment, and anatomical studies were performed to standardize the operation as well as to assess the biomechanical stability and adjustability of the distal femoral LCP external fixator by biomechanical experiments.

Focal Lipogranuloma Inflammation: A Case Report of the Lung Origin.

Introduction: Limited experience exists regarding the clinical features of focal lipogranuloma inflammation of the lung, and there are no supporting guidelines for the diagnostic approach.

Case Description: We present the case of a 20-year-old man who was found to have a pulmonary nodule with a smooth margin during a health examination. He underwent wedge resection of the left lower lung to achieve a tissue diagnosis; this showed focal lipogranuloma inflammation of the lung.

Iron oxide nanoparticle targeting mechanism and its application in tumor magnetic resonance imaging and therapy.

Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) can be applied to targeted drug delivery, targeted diagnosis and treatment of tumors due to their easy preparation, good biocompatibility, low biotoxicity, high imaging quality, high magnetothermal sensitivity and stable targeting after certain surface modifications. However, the complexity of the mechanism of action and their properties has led to there being few clinical applications of IONPs. This review first describes the targeting mechanisms of IONPs and their toxicity issues, then discusses the applications of IONP targeting studies in tumor MRI.

Cryptococcal Osteomyelitis of the Left Acetabulum: A Case Report.

Background: Cryptococcus, as a classical "opportunistic" fungal pathogen, is capable of disseminating an invasive infection in immunocompromised hosts. The primary sites of infection include the respiratory and central nervous systems, and skeletal infection was rarely reported. In this case, we describe a case of cryptococcal osteomyelitis involving the left side of the acetabulum in a Chinese patient with chronic hepatitis B.

Nomogram based on MRI can preoperatively predict brain invasion in meningioma.

Predicting brain invasion preoperatively should help to guide surgical decision-making and aid the prediction of meningioma grading and prognosis. However, only a few imaging features have been identified to aid prediction. This study aimed to develop and validate an MRI-based nomogram to predict brain invasion by meningioma.

Primary carcinoid tumor of the kidney is an extremely rare well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor, which is generally a low-grade malignant cancer with a good prognosis. Carcinoid tumors are rarely found in the urinary system. Here, we report a 34-year-old woman with primary renal well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor who underwent nephron sparing surgery and no evidence of recurrence or distant metastasis was found during routine follow-up.

Background: To investigate the efficacy of the 135° hip screw, 95° intramedullary hip screw (IMHS) and 95° hip screw in the treatment of intertrochanteric reverse dip fracture of the femur.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 125 matched pairs of human femurs (median age 64 years) which were osteotomized at a 33° angle in the left femur and extended downward from the minor trochanter to simulate a reverse oblique intertrochanteric fracture. The right femur served as a control.
