Background: Interventional therapy, currently, has become a major method for the clinical treatment of liver cancer patients. However, interventional therapy can also lead to various toxic side effects, and combined with the impact of the disease itself, liver cancer patients often experience more severe emotional distress. Improving individuals' levels of psychological distress tolerance may reduce sensitivity to negative life events and experiences.

The effective prevention and treatment of anastomotic leakage after intestinal anastomosis for colorectal diseases is still a major clinical challenge. In order to assist intestinal anastomosis healing and avoid anastomotic leakage caused by high tension, low blood supply or infection, we designed a double-layer nanofiber intestinal anastomosis scaffold, which was composed of electrospun PTMC/PHA nanofibers as the main layer, and electrospun PVA/OHA-Gs nanofibers with antibacterial properties as the antibacterial surface layer. This double-layer scaffold has good toughness, its maximum tensile force value could reach 8 N, elongation could reach 400 %, and it has hydrophilic properties, and its contact angle was about 60°.

Eyelid tumors pose diagnostic challenges due to their diverse pathological types and limited biopsy materials. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostic system for accurate classification of eyelid tumors. Utilizing mass spectrometry-based proteomics, we analyzed proteomic data from eight tissue types and identified eighteen novel biomarkers based on 233 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples from 150 patients.

Background: Early recurrence in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC) portends aggressive biological characteristics and a dismal prognosis. Prediction of early recurrence may help determine treatment strategies for LAGC. To develop a deep learning model for early recurrence prediction (DLER) based on preoperative multiphase computed tomography (CT) images and further explore the underlying biological basis of the proposed model.

Background: In recent years, there have been numerous studies using Quality Intima-Media Thickness (QIMT) and Quantitative Arterial Stiffness (QAS) technology to evaluate various related factors and disease-induced changes in carotid artery (CA) elasticity. However, there is still a lack of research on the relationship between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and various indicators related to the CA. This study aimed to investigate the clinical significance of using QIMT and QAS techniques for comprehensive evaluation of CA intima-media thickness (IMT) and elasticity changes in NAFLD patients, and to analyze various factors influencing these variables.

The immunosuppressive residual tumor microenvironment (IRTM) is a key factor in the high recurrence and metastasis rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after microwave ablation (MWA). Cholesterol-rich tumor fragments significantly contribute to IRTM deterioration. This study developed a cholesterol-targeted catalytic hydrogel, DA-COD-OD-HCS, to enhance the synergy between MWA and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for HCC treatment.

Background: Primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma (PHL) is a rare malignant tumor and has non-specific clinical manifestations and imaging characteristics, making preoperative diagnosis challenging. Here, we report a case of PHL presenting primarily with fever, with computed tomography imaging showing a thick-walled hepatic lesion with low-density areas, resembling liver abscess.
Case Summary: The patient was a 34-year-old woman who presented with right upper abdominal pain and fever over 4 days before admission.

Background: Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulation (TEAS) is a technique that involves stimulating specific acupoints on the body with electrical currents. It may regulate nerve excitability and improve nerve function. This study aimed to assess the impact of TEAS on gastrointestinal motility, nutrition, and immune function in patients post cerebrovascular accident surgery in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Rationale And Objectives: This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning-based prediction model for preoperatively predicting progesterone receptor (PR) expression in meningioma patients using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Materials And Methods: The study retrospectively enrolled 739 patients with pathologically confirmed meningioma from three medical centers, dividing them into four cohorts: training (n = 294), internal test (n = 126), external test 1 (n = 217), and external test 2 (n = 102). Radiomics characteristics were derived from T2-weighted and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MRI images, followed by feature selection.

Objective: This study investigates the differences in brain functional activity and connectivity patterns between Cancer Pain (CP) patients and Healthy Controls (HCs) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) to identify potential neuroimaging biomarkers.
Methods: This study collected rs-fMRI data from 25 CP patients and 25 hCs, processed the functional MRI images, and calculated metrics such as amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF), Regional Homogeneity (ReHo), and FC. Through statistical analysis, differences in brain functional activity and connectivity between the cancer pain group and the healthy control group were investigated, followed by machine learning classification.

Conventional chemotherapy drugs are difficult to effectively target tumor tissue, leading to poor treatment outcomes and side effects. Actively targeted and stimuli-responsive nanomedicine greatly improves this situation, allowing for more precise drug accumulation at tumor sites. Herein, carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CMCD) - based host-guest nanocomposites (NPs) encapsulating hydroxycamptothecin (HCPT) were fabricated, which responded to esterase and had the function of targeting CD 44 receptors and the nucleus.

Normal life requires cell division to produce new cells, but cell death is necessary to maintain balance. Dysregulation of cell death can lead to the survival and proliferation of abnormal cells, promoting tumor development. Unlike apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy, the newly recognized forms of regulated cell death (RCD) cuproptosis, ferroptosis, and PANoptosis provide novel therapeutic strategies for tumor treatment.

Background: Non-insulin-based insulin resistance (IR) indices, simple and reliable surrogates for IR calculated without insulin level, have been reported to be associated with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
Methods: Participants without diabetes from the cross-sectional baseline survey of the PRECISE (Poly-Vascular Evaluation for Cognitive Impairment and Vascular Events) cohort study were included in present study. Non-insulin-based IR indices, including triglyceride and glucose (TyG) index, triglyceride glucose-body mass (TyG-BMI) index, triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio, and metabolic score for insulin resistance (METS-IR) index, were calculated and stratified into quartiles.
