Background: Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) grafting is an effective method to correct tear trough deformity. Nevertheless, the quantitative data of satisfactory rate and complications of SVF compared with normal autologous fat graft (AFG) remain unemployed. The aim of this meta-analysis was to synthesize the current quantitative data on satisfactory rate and complications of tear trough deformity correction with SVF and normal AFG.

Article Synopsis
  • Aging diabetic patients frequently experience hypoglycemia and its associated fear, leading to greater psychological distress and impacting their quality of life and family dynamics.
  • * The study analyzed 78 older adults with diabetes, discovering that low education, a long disease history, and frequent hypoglycemic episodes increased the fear of hypoglycemia (FOH), while family support and psychological well-being served as protective factors.
  • * The findings suggest that targeted hypoglycemia prevention education and strengthening family support can help reduce FOH and improve overall well-being in older adults with diabetes.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines how red cell distribution width (RDW) is linked to smoking and coronary heart disease (CHD), aiming to clarify the role of RDW in this relationship.
  • - Analyzing data from over 13,000 adults, results indicated that higher RDW levels were found in smokers and those with CHD, with RDW acting as a mediator between smoking and CHD risk.
  • - The findings suggest that RDW can provide new insights into preventing and managing coronary heart disease, especially considering factors like sex that influence this association.

Synthesis, structure, spectra, cytotoxicity and photo induced NO release of four isomeric nitrosylruthenium complexes.

Nitric Oxide

November 2024

Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology and Molecular Engineering of Education Ministry, Institute of Molecular Science, Shanxi University, Taiyuan, 030006, China. Electronic address:

Four isomeric nitrosyl ruthenium complexes [RuCl(2mqn)(Val)(NO)] (1-4) were prepared (2mqn, 2-methyl-8-hydroxyquinoline; Val, l-valine) and characterized by H NMR, C NMR, absorption spectrum, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystal diffraction. Time-resolved FT-IR and fluorescence spectroscopy were used to monitor photo-induced NO release in solution, while NO released in living cells was imaged using a selective fluorescent probe. The isomeric complexes showed different levels of cytotoxicity against HeLa cells, and slightly photo-enhanced anti-proliferative activity was observed.

Angiotensin II type-1 receptor autoantibody positively correlates with the rate of metaphase I oocytes in infertility with ovulatory disorder.

J Reprod Immunol

December 2024

Reproductive Center, Taiyuan Central Hospital, Taiyuan, China; Reproductive Immunity and Heredity Departments and Cities Jointly Build Key Laboratory Training Bases of Shanxi Province, Taiyuan, China. Electronic address:

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays an important role in reproductive function. Our previous study identified that angiotensin II type-1 receptor autoantibody (AT1-AA), an autoantibody that activates RAS, was closely associated with infertility. However, its distribution in different types of infertility remained unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • Histone deacetylases (HDACs) play a role in controlling viral replication by modifying non-histone proteins, particularly in the context of RNA viruses.
  • The study highlights that HDAC8 influences the replication of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) by either inhibiting or promoting replication based on its expression levels.
  • HDAC8 enhances the antiviral immune response by interacting with and deacetylating RIG-I, which boosts interferon production and activates downstream signaling pathways against the virus.

Background: Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a proliferative retinal vascular disease occurring in the retina of premature infants and is the main cause of childhood blindness. Nowadays anti-VEGF and retinal photocoagulation are mainstream treatments for ROP, but they develop a variety of complications. Hydrogen (H) is widely considered as a useful neuroprotective and antioxidative therapeutic method for hypoxic-ischemic disease without toxic effects.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive disease that poses a significant threat to human health, particularly in aging individuals: Although sympathetic activation has been implicated in bone metabolism, its role in the development of OA related to aging remains poorly understood. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate how sympathetic regulation impacts aging-related OA through experiments conducted both in vivo and in vitro.

Methods: To analyze the effect of sympathetic regulation on aging-related OA, we conducted experiments using various mouse models.
