Neuropathic pain remains a prevalent and challenging condition to treat, with current therapies often providing inadequate relief. Ozone therapy has emerged as a promising treatment option; however, its mechanisms of action in neuropathic pain remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the effects of ozone treatment on gene expression and metabolite levels in the brainstem and hypothalamus of a rat model, using a combined transcriptomic and metabolomic approach.

Article Synopsis
  • A study looked at how safe and effective a treatment called imaging-guided percutaneous ablation (PA) is for people with adrenal metastasis (AM), which is cancer that has spread to the adrenal glands.
  • The study included 15 different research articles and found that most patients had good success rates, with 88% successfully treated and 80% surviving for at least a year.
  • The results show that this treatment is generally safe and works well for patients, giving them good chances of living longer after the procedure.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and portal vein radioactive seed insertion (RSI) combination in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT).

Material And Methods: The relevant databases were searched from the earliest to January 2021. The endpoints included treatment response, treatment side effects, and overall survival (OS).

Introduction: Preoperative computed tomography (CT)-guided localization is commonly employed to facilitate video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS)-guided diagnostic wedge resection of pulmonary nodules (PNs).

Aim: The present meta-analysis was conducted with the goal of better evaluating the feasibility, safety, and clinical efficacy of preoperative CT-guided localization for multiple PNs (MPNs).

Material And Methods: PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases were reviewed in order to identify all relevant studies published as of June 2020.

Background: Focal liver lesions (FLLs) are abnormal masses that are distinguishable from the surrounding liver parenchyma, solid or cystic and may be benign or malignant. They are usually detected incidentally on abdominal examinations. The classification of FLLs is very important as it directly determines the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been accepted as promising non-invasive biomarkers for cancer early diagnosis. Developing amplified sensing strategies for detecting ultralow concentration of miRNAs in clinical samples still requires much effort. Herein, an integrated fluorescence biosensor using nicking enzyme-powered numerous-feet DNA walking machine was developed for ultrasensitive detection of miRNA.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of stent-in-stent (SIS) and side-by-side (SBS) bilateral stenting for treating malignant hilar biliary obstruction (MHBO).

Material And Methods: Relevant studies in Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were identified through June 2020. This meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan v5.

Background:  The aim of the study is to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of preoperative computed tomography (CT)-guided trans-scapular coil localization (TSCL) of scapula-blocked pulmonary nodules (PNs).

Methods:  Between November 2015 and May 2020, 11 patients underwent preoperative CT-guided TSCL procedures owing to PN occlusion by scapula.

Results:  A 100% technical success rate was achieved for CT-guided TSCL, with one coil being used for each PN.

Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Henan Provincial People's Hospital, School of Clinical Medicine, Henan University, Zhengzhou, Henan 450003, P.R. China.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high mortality rate, which imposes a huge burden on patients and society. Glypican-1 (GPC1) is considered to be an ideal diagnostic marker. The present study aimed to investigate GPC1 expression in HCC, its association with clinicopathological factors and its prognostic significance in HCC progression.
