Resistance to treatment poses a major challenge for cancer therapy, and oncoviral treatment encounters the issue of viral resistance as well. In this investigation, we introduce deterministic differential equation models to explore the effect of resistance on oncolytic viral therapy. Specifically, we classify tumor cells into resistant, sensitive, or infected with respect to oncolytic viruses for our analysis.

Recently, UVC LEDs, which emit deep ultraviolet light, have found extensive applications across various fields. This study demonstrates the design and implementation of thin films of three-dimensional photonic crystals (3D PhCs) as reflectors to enhance the light output power (LOP) of UVC LEDs. The 3D PhC reflectors were prepared using the self-assembly of silica nanospheres on a UVC LED lead frame substrate via the evaporation-induced method (side) and the gravitational sedimentation method (bottom), respectively.

This study delves into the green synthesis and multifaceted applications of three types of carbon quantum dots (CQDs), namely, CQDs-1, CQDs-2, and CQDs-3. These CQDs were innovatively produced through a gentle pyrolysis process from distinct plant-based precursors: genipin with glucose for CQDs-1, genipin with extracted gardenia seeds for CQDs-2, and genipin with whole gardenia seeds for CQDs-3. Advanced analytical techniques, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), were employed to detail the CQDs' structural and surface characteristics, revealing their unique functional groups and surface chemistries.

Measuring elasticity without physical contact is challenging, as current methods often require deconstruction of the test sample. This study addresses this challenge by proposing and testing a photoacoustic effect-based method for measuring the elasticity of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) at various mixing ratios, which may be applied on the wide range of applications such as biomedical and optical fields. A dual-light laser source of the photoacoustic (PA) system is designed, employing cross-correlation signal processing techniques.

The undoped and tungsten (W)-doped vanadium dioxide (VO) thin films were prepared by electron beam evaporation associated with ion-beam-assisted deposition (IAD). The influence of different W-doped contents (3-5%) on the electrical, optical, structural, and thermo-mechanical properties of VO thin films was investigated experimentally. Spectral transmittance results showed that with the increase in W-doped contents, the transmittance in the visible light range (400-750 nm) decreases from 60.

This research successfully synthesized SnO@ZnInS composites for photocatalytic tap water splitting using a rapid two-step microwave-assisted synthesis method. This study investigated the impact of incorporating a fixed quantity of SnO nanoparticles and combining them with various materials to form composites, aiming to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production. Additionally, different weights of SnO nanoparticles were added to the ZnInS reaction precursor to prepare SnO@ZnInS composites for photocatalytic hydrogen production.

Background: The assessment information of tumor margins is extremely important for the success of the breast cancer surgery and whether the patient undergoes a second operation. However, conducting surgical margin assessments is a time-consuming task that requires pathology-related skills and equipment, and often cannot be provided in a timely manner. To address this challenge, digital breast tomosynthesis technology was utilized to generate detailed cross-sectional images of the breast tissue and integrate deep learning algorithms for image segmentation, achieving an assessment of tumor margins during surgery.

The design and development of high-performance and long-life Pt-free catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is of great important with respect to metal-air batteries and fuel cells. Herein, a new low-cost covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-derived CoNC single-atoms catalyst (SAC) is fabricated and compared with the engineered nanoparticle (NP) counterpart for ORR activity. The ORR performance of the SAC catalyst (Co@NC) surpasses the NP counterpart (Co-NC) under the same operation condition.

Patients with scars face a grave threat to their mental and physical health. Negative pressure has been used for scar therapy in medical care and provides a microenvironment conducive to scar healing while stimulating cell regeneration. Negative pressure may disrupt scar tissue regeneration when the pressure is too high or too low, so finding a suitable negative pressure is important.

Recently, large-scale artificial intelligence models with billions of parameters have achieved good results in experiments, but their practical deployment on edge computing platforms is often subject to many constraints because of their resource requirements. These models require powerful computing platforms with a high memory capacity to store and process the numerous parameters and activations, which makes it challenging to deploy these large-scale models directly. Therefore, model compression techniques are crucial role in making these models more practical and accessible.

This study investigates whether technological innovation and the consumption of renewable energy tend to reduce the emissions of CO in the USA by analyzing datasets from January 2010 to May 2022. The main contribution to this study is that we applied a cross-quantile approach, which possesses several strengths compared to other methods used for directional predictability. The empirical results of this research can be concluded as three points: (1) both the consumption of renewable energy and technological innovation significantly and negatively impacted the emissions of CO in the short run (i.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the incidence and risk factors surrounding mental illnesses in patients diagnosed with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARDs).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study used nationwide, population-based claim data taken from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) to identify patients certified as having a catastrophic illness for Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Systemic sclerosis (SSc), Dermatomyositis (DM), Polymyositis (PM) or Sjogren's syndrome (SS) from the years 2002-2020. We furthermore calculated the incidence of mental illness in patients diagnosed with SARDs while exploring factors associated with the development of mental illness using multivariable Cox regression analysis shown as adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

With the continuous reduction of chip size, fluxless soldering has brought attention to high-density, three-dimensional packaging. Although fluxless soldering technology with formic acid (FA) atmosphere has been presented, few studies have examined the effect of the Pt catalytic, preheating time, and soldering pad on FA soldering for the Sn-58Bi solder. The results have shown that the Pt catalytic can promote oxidation-reduction and the formation of a large pore in the Sn-58Bi/Cu solder joint, which causes a decrease in shear strength.
