Aim: Recent preventative approaches with young people at clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR-P) have focused on the remediation of the cognitive deficits that are readily apparent and predictive of future illness. However, the small number of trials using cognitive remediation with CHR-P individuals have reported mixed results. The proposed 2-phased study will test an innovative internet-based and remotely-delivered Specific COgnitive REmediation plus Surround (or SCORES) intervention that targets early processing speed deficits in CHR-P adolescents aged 14-20 years old.

Objective: This study began as a single-blind randomized controlled trial (RCT) to investigate the efficacy and safety of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for severe treatment-refractory agitation in advanced dementia. The aims are to assess agitation reduction using the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI), evaluate tolerability and safety outcomes, and explore the long-term stability of agitation reduction and global functioning. Due to challenges encountered during implementation, including recruitment obstacles and operational difficulties, the study design was modified to an open-label format and other protocol amendments were implemented.

Two new nonconvex penalty functions - Laplace and arctan - were recently introduced in the literature to obtain sparse models for high-dimensional statistical problems. In this paper, we study the theoretical properties of Laplace and arctan penalized ordinary least squares linear regression models. We first illustrate the near-unbiasedness of the nonzero regression weights obtained by the new penalty functions, in the orthonormal design case.

We investigated the difference between OABD and age-comparable healthy comparison (HC) participants and, among those with BD, the associations between age, global cognitive performance, symptom severity and functioning using a large, cross-sectional, archival dataset harmonized from 7 international OABD studies.

Background And Objectives: ChatGPT is a natural language processing chatbot with increasing applicability to the medical workflow. Although ChatGPT has been shown to be capable of passing the American Board of Neurological Surgery board examination, there has never been an evaluation of the chatbot in triaging and diagnosing novel neurosurgical scenarios without defined answer choices. In this study, we assess ChatGPT's capability to determine the emergent nature of neurosurgical scenarios and make diagnoses based on information one would find in a neurosurgical consult.

To bring biomarkers closer to clinical application, they should be generalizable, reliable, and maintain performance within the constraints of routine clinical conditions. The functional striatal abnormalities (FSA), is among the most advanced neuroimaging biomarkers in schizophrenia, trained to discriminate diagnosis, with post-hoc analyses indicating prognostic properties. Here, we attempt to replicate its diagnostic capabilities measured by the area under the curve (AUC) in receiver operator characteristic curves discriminating individuals with psychosis (n=101) from healthy controls (n=51) in the Human Connectome Project for Early Psychosis.

Background: Visual evoked potential (VEP) recording is traditionally regarded as an unreliable evoked potential monitoring technique, precluding widespread use in intracranial neurosurgery. However, VEPs can serve as a useful intraoperative adjunct for real-time detection of mechanical damage to optic apparatuses. The low obtainability and prognostic utility of VEPs are associated with transcranial recording, which typically provides non-focal information and poor signal-to-noise ratio.

Purpose: Sedentary time is ubiquitous in developed nations and is associated with deleterious health outcomes. Current research suggests that hundreds to thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with small to modest effect sizes contribute to the genetic basis of many disorders, a phenomenon labeled as polygenicity. Additionally, many such disorders demonstrate polygenic overlap, in which risk alleles are shared at associated genetic loci. A simple strategy to detect polygenic overlap between two phenotypes is based on rank-ordering the univariate -values from two genome-wide association studies (GWASs).
