Background And Purpose: FLAIR vascular hyperintensities are thought to represent leptomeningeal collaterals in acute ischemic stroke. However, whether all-FLAIR vascular hyperintensities or FLAIR vascular hyperintensities-DWI mismatch, ie, FLAIR vascular hyperintensities beyond the DWI lesion, best reflects collaterals remains debated. We aimed to compare the value of FLAIR vascular hyperintensities-DWI mismatch versus all-FLAIR vascular hyperintensities for collateral assessment using PWI-derived collateral flow maps as a reference.

Background And Purpose: By studying the evolution of brain volume across the life span in male and female patients, we aimed to understand how sex, brain volume, and the epidermal growth factor repeat domain of the mutation, the 3 major determinants of disability in CADASIL, interact in driving disease evolution.
Materials And Methods: We used validated methods to model the evolution of normalized brain volume with age in male and female patients using nonparametric regression in a large, monocentric cohort with prospectively collected clinical and high-resolution MR imaging data. We used k-means clustering to test for the presence of different clinical course profiles.

Background: Balancing the risks of recurrent ischaemic stroke and intracranial haemorrhage is important for patients treated with antithrombotic therapy after ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack. However, existing predictive models offer insufficient performance, particularly for assessing the risk of intracranial haemorrhage. We aimed to develop new risk scores incorporating clinical variables and cerebral microbleeds, an MRI biomarker of intracranial haemorrhage and ischaemic stroke risk.

Prehospital management of acute stroke patients. In France, prehospital management of patients with suspected acute stroke relies on emergency medical communication centers (Samu), which provides first-line telephone assessment and dispatches the most appropriate emergency vehicle. Such tasks are not straightforward because many clinical symptoms may correspond to stroke and alternative diagnoses - stroke mimics - are common.
