The renin-angiotensin-system is an important component of cardiovascular control and is up-regulated under various conditions, including hypertension and menopause. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of swimming training and estrogen therapy (ET) on angiotensin-II (ANG II)-induced vasoconstriction and angiotensin-(1-7) [ANG-(1-7)]-induced vasorelaxation in aortic rings from ovariectomized spontaneously hypertensive rats. Animals were divided into Sham (SH), Ovariectomized (OVX), Ovariectomized treated with E2 (OE2), Ovariectomized plus swimming (OSW) and Ovariectomized treated with E2 plus swimming (OE2+SW) groups.

Dental sealants are important for prevention of carious lesions, if they have good shear strength. The aim of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) of two sealants to saliva-contaminated and non-contaminated enamel with and without an intermediate adhesive layer underneath the sealant. Ninety flat enamel surfaces from human third molars were randomly assigned to 6 groups (n=15): F (control): Fluroshield(tm) sealant; EWB (control): Embrace(tm) WetBond(tm); SB/F: Single Bond adhesive system + F; SB/EWB, s-SB/F and s-SB/EWB.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the Young's modulus and the hardness of deciduous and permanent teeth following wear challenges using different dental materials.

Materials And Methods: Wear challenges were performed against four dental materials: A resin-based fissure sealant (Fluoroshield(®)), a glass ionomer based fissure sealant (Vitremer(®)), and two microhybrid composite resins (Filtek Z250 and P90(®)). Using the pin-on-plate design, a deciduous or a permanent tooth was made into a pin (4 mm × 4 mm × 2 mm) working at a 3 N vertical load, 1 Hz frequency, and 900 cycles (15 min) with Fusayama artificial saliva as a lubricant.

Background: The dysfunction of gluteus medius (GMed) has been implicated in other musculoskeletal disorders including low back pain and lower limb injuries. The purpose of this study was to use a protocol involving low-load eccentric exercises to observe the effects on the three subdivisions of GMed activation through surface electromyography (sEMG) and digital dynamometry.

Methods: Eleven female subjects having femoral instability participated in a 4-week protocol (three sessions per week/non-consecutive days).

Objectives: To study the effect of a protocol involving joint manipulation and specific exercises for pelvic stability to influence proprioceptive input to the spinal tissues and to observe the effects on sensorimotor function.

Methods: Seven patients with pelvic anteversion and low back pain participated in an eight-week protocol (three sessions per week/nonconsecutive days). At each session, a high-velocity, low-amplitude manipulative thrust was applied to the sacroiliac joint, followed by quadriceps eccentric and hamstring concentric contractions.

Objective: This in vitro study evaluated the influence of luting agents on ultrasonic vibration time for intraradicular cast post removal.

Material And Methods: After endodontic treatment, 30 roots of extracted human canines were embedded in resin cylinders. The post-holes were prepared at 10 mm depth and their impressions were taken using autopolymerizing acrylic resin.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the distribution of microorganisms in the root canal system (RCS) and periapical lesions of dogs' teeth after rotary instrumentation and placement of different calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2]-based intracanal dressings.

Materials And Methods: Chronic periapical lesions were experimentally induced in 80 premolar roots of four dogs. Instrumentation was undertaken using the ProFile rotary system and irrigation with 5.
