Context: Ammonium Tutton salts have been widely studied in recent years due to their thermostructural properties, which make them promising compounds for application in thermochemical energy storage devices. In this work, a detailed experimental study of the Tutton salt with the formula (NH)Zn(SO)(HO) is carried out. Its structural, vibrational, and thermal properties are analyzed and discussed.

Little is known about the biology of pygmy sperm whales, Kogia breviceps (De Blainville, 1838), being that most anatomical descriptions for the species derive from necropsy after stranding or from osteological material preserved in museums. This species is rarely seen despite its wide distribution, and its reproductive behaviour is still being investigated. The eventual occurrence of pregnant female strandings and the collection and description of foetuses can give clues about the organisms' mostly unknown early development.

Land use change, especially mining activities, contributes to anthropic CO emissions, leading to decreased carbon (C) storage and loss of biodiversity. Artisanal gold mining associated with the use of mercury (Hg) for amalgamation may change soil organic matter (SOM) contents, and the release of Hg into the environment generates serious environmental problems. Changes in soil biogeochemistry due to C loss and seasonal climate fluctuations affect Hg dynamics and can either increase or decrease its availability.

In mammals, the central circadian oscillator is located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis components exhibit circadian oscillation, regulated by both central clock innervation and intrinsic circadian clocks in the anterior pituitary and thyroid glands. Thyroid disorders alter the rhythmicity of peripheral clocks in a tissue-dependent response; however, whether these effects are influenced by alterations in the master clock remains unknown.

Dehydrated integral forage palm cladode flour (FPF) presents a promising nutritional and functional approach to enriching fettuccine-type pasta. This study investigated the use of microwave-dehydrated FPF (at 810 W) as a partial wheat flour substitute (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20% /) in fresh and dry fettuccine-type pasta. The thermomechanical properties of flour blends and the technological and sensory attributes of the resulting pasta were evaluated.

Background: Depression, anxiety, and stress disorders have significant and widespread impacts worldwide, affecting millions of individuals and their communities. According to the World Health Organization, depression impacts the daily lives of more than 300 million people, making it one of the most important diseases globally. Treatment for these mental disorders (MD) typically involves medication and psychotherapies, but also incorporates technological resources like Artificial Intelligence (AI) to indicate personalized therapies and care.

Objective: To analyze whether there are differences in the cepstral measures obtained in different speech tasks, depending on the presence and degree of vocal deviation, and to analyze if there is a correlation between the cepstral measures obtained from different speech tasks and the general degree of vocal deviation.
Method: Analysis of 258 vocal samples of the sustained vowel [a] and connected speech (counting numbers) from a database, including 160 dysphonic and 98 nondysphonic voices. The counting number samples were edited in three different durations: counting from 1 to 10, from 1 to 11, and from 1 to 20.

The muscle metaboreflex effect on pulmonary ventilation (V̇) regulation is more apparent during rhythmic exercise than rest, possibly because this reflex interacts with other mechanisms regulating V̇ during voluntary contractions, such as central command. Therefore, we tested whether one part of central command, the descending component of motor execution (i.e.

Arthritogenic alphaviruses pose a significant public health concern due to their ability to cause joint inflammation, with emerging evidence of potential neurological consequences. In this review, we examine the immunopathology and immune evasion strategies employed by these viruses, highlighting their complex mechanisms of pathogenesis and neurological implications. We delve into how these viruses manipulate host immune responses, modulate inflammatory pathways, and potentially establish persistent infections.

We manipulated environmental context in terms of an environmental novelty/ familiarity dimension and measured morphine behavioral effects in both acute and chronic morphine treatment protocols. Autophagy initiation is regulated by the ULK1 kinase complex. To gain insights into functions of the holo-complex, we generated a deep interactome by combining affinity purification- and proximity labeling-mass spectrometry of all four complex members: ULK1, ATG13, ATG101, and RB1CC1/FIP200. Under starvation conditions, the ULK1 complex interacts with several protein and lipid kinases and phosphatases, implying the formation of a signalosome.

The severity and invasiveness of clinical outcomes from organic responses to trauma are influenced by individual, surgical, and anesthetic factors. A stress response elicits neuroendocrine and immune reactions that may lead to multi-organ dysfunction. The degree of neuroinflammatory reflex activation from trauma can increase pro-inflammatory cytokine production, leading to endothelial dysfunction, glycocalyx damage, neutrophil activation, and multisystem tissue destruction.

To evaluate the safety and the potential antiviral treatment of inhaled enriched heparin in patients with COVID-19. The specific objectives were to investigate the anticoagulation profile, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects, and respiratory evolution of inhaled enriched heparin. We conducted a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled Phase I/II clinical trial in hospitalized adults with COVID-19 receiving inhalation of enriched heparin or saline (placebo) every 4 h for 7 days.

We present a computational model of networked neurons developed to study the effect of temperature on neuronal synchronization in the brain in association with seizures. The network consists of a set of chaotic bursting neurons surrounding a core tonic neuron in a square lattice with periodic boundary conditions. Each neuron is reciprocally coupled to its four nearest neighbors via temperature dependent gap junctions.

This case series reports eight eyes with keratoconus treated with laser implantation of one or two segments of progressive thickness corneal intrastromal ring (PT-ICRS). In this case series, it was evident that the insertion of PT-ICRS induces more pronounced corneal flattening at the thickest point, causing a reduction in distortion (coma) and lower astigmatism, resulting in a remarkable improvement in vision. Compared to the implementation of traditional intrastromal rings, the PT-ICRS variant showed superior results despite the small sample size.

Knowledge of performance in activities of daily living and quality of life is important for management decisions and research endpoints. The use of harmonized scales is essential for objective assessment of both caregivers and patients with dementia with Lewy bodies. Functionality and quality of life are more impaired in dementia with Lewy bodies than in Alzheimer's disease, mostly due to higher prevalence of behavioral symptoms and motor manifestations in dementia with Lewy bodies.
