Resistance training, as a modality of physical exercise, has been recognized as a fundamental pillar in the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Current reviews, however, have not given due priority to the specific effects of this type of training on hepatic and clinical markers in individuals with MASLD. This study aimed to compile the available evidence on the impact of resistance training on hepatic and clinical parameters in individuals diagnosed with MASLD.

Feline paraneoplastic alopecia is associated with intraabdominal neoplasms. A 13-year-old female cat was presented with a history of a cutaneous mass on the head, followed by ventrally distributed alopecia with shiny skin. Necropsy revealed an apocrine adenocarcinoma and telogenisation/miniaturisation of the hair follicles, respectively.

The life-cycle of Amblyomma calcaratum was evaluated experimentally under laboratory conditions using birds (Serinus canaria, Gallus gallus) and rodents (Calomys callosus) as hosts for immatures and a rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) as host for adults. Developmental periods of the non-parasitic stages were observed in an incubator at 27 °C and 90% RH. The passerine S.

Background: The physiopathology of sarcopenia shares common biological cascades with the aging process, as does any other age-related condition. However, our understanding of the interconnected pathways between diagnosed sarcopenia and aging remains limited, lacking sufficient scientific evidence.
Methods: This narrative review aims to gather and describe the current evidence on the relationship between biological aging determinants, commonly referred to as the hallmarks of aging, and diagnosed sarcopenia in humans.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of power training (PT) using elastic bands combined with endurance training (ET) on pulse pressure (PP), systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressures (DBP), autonomic response (AR), and functional parameters in older adults.
Methods: Thirty participants were randomly assigned to the control group ( n = 15) and the intervention group (IG) ( n = 15). IG participants performed PT with elastic bands combined with ET twice weekly for 8 weeks.

Overexposure to blue light due to the excessive use of electronic devices has been implicated in premature skin aging and eye damage, among other injuries to health. This study aimed to synthesize two azo derivatives of the 2-(amino-2'-hydroxyphenyl) benzoxazole and explore their potential as UV and blue light filters, proposing a new spectral profile. The synthesis of the heterocyclic compounds involved condensation reactions and diazotation.

In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly in Paris declared that a standard of health was a universal human right.1 There is no reason to suggest that this affirmation should not include oral health as well. Oral health is a human right! Oral diseases are a public health problem that impair quality of life and generate increased costs and demands.

Background: One key focus in the literature is the need to better understand how males and females perform neuromuscular control, which requires consideration of muscle morphology, as it may change neural drive during force production. Although previous studies focused on muscles around the knee and ankle, it is crucial to explore the behavior of other muscles, such as the hip abductors, since many lower limb conditions more common in females have been associated with alterations in hip muscles.
Research Questions: Are electromyography (EMG) variables (amplitude and low- and high frequency bands) of hip abductors during submaximal isometric tasks different between males and females? How is muscle size associated with EMG responses during these tasks?
Methods: Thirty-six participants (males, n = 18; females, n = 18) had muscle and subcutaneous thickness of gluteus medius (GMed) and tensor fascia latae (TFL) measured.

Androgen independent phase in prostate cancer (PCa) commonly limits the therapeutic efficacy. through its main active compound, α-thujone, appears to be an option, considering its anti-proliferative, anti-metastatic and pro-apoptotic effects on hepatocellular carcinoma. However, studies on PCa are limited.

Introduction: Clinical staging is widely applied in various fields of Medicine. Staging makes it possible to constitute early diagnoses and interventions, improving prognosis and preventing disease progression. In relation to Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD), staging is still an underdeveloped subject in the scientific literature.

Background: In Emergency Departments (EDs), triage is crucial for determining patient severity and prioritizing care, typically using the Manchester Triage Scale (MTS). Traditional triage systems, reliant on human judgment, are prone to under-triage and over-triage, resulting in variability, bias, and incorrect patient classification. Studies suggest that Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) could enhance triage accuracy and consistency.

Background: Glycolic acid (GA) has been tested as enamel and dentin etchant, and final irrigant for smear layer removal. This study evaluated the effects of GA and ultrasonic activation (US) on smear layer removal, dentin penetration, dentin structure and bond strength of the root dentin filling material.
Material And Methods: The root canals of 210 teeth were distributed into four test groups: smear layer removal (N=50), dentin penetration (N=50), dentin structure (N=10) and bond strength (N=100).

Our research group previously studied the effectiveness of lipid-core nanocapsules (LNC) containing simvastatin (SV-LNC) in treating cognitive impairment in rats. While our results were promising, we needed to evaluate the potential toxicity of the nanoparticles themselves. This study aimed to compare the biochemical and hematological parameters of adult Wistar rats receiving LNC or SV-LNC to those receiving low doses of simvastatin crystals dispersed in a saline solution over 45 days.

The incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been rising, particularly among individuals diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. In the present study, the prophylactic effects of rifaximin (RIF) on HCC, inflammatory markers and cardiovascular risk (CVR) were investigated in an animal model. Adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated into three groups (n=10, each): Control [standard diet/water plus gavage with vehicle (Veh)], HCC [high-fat choline deficient diet (HFCD)/diethylnitrosamine (DEN) in drinking water/Veh gavage] and RIF [HFCD/DEN/RIF (50 mg/kg/day) gavage] groups.

Introduction: Interventions to treat speech-language difficulties in primary progressive aphasia (PPA) often use word accuracy as a highly comparable outcome. However, there are more constructs of importance to people with PPA that have received less attention.
Methods: Following Core Outcome Set Standards for Development Recommendations (COSSTAD), this study comprised: Stage 1 - systematic review to identify measures; Stage 2 - consensus groups to identify important outcome constructs for people with PPA (n = 82) and care partners (n = 91); Stage 3 - e-Delphi consensus with 57 researchers.
