Jaboticaba peel () is a source of bioactive compounds. We investigated the anticancer activity of ethyl acetate extract (JE1) and hydroethanolic extract (JE2) of Jaboticaba peel against breast cancer. Both JE1 and JE2 inhibited clonogenic potential of MDA-MB-231 cells while JE1 was particularly effective in MCF7 cells.

Effects of periodontal treatment on the C-reactive protein levels in hemodialysis patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Aim: This systematic review provides a summary of the scientific evidence concerning effects of periodontal treatment on the C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in hemodialysis patients.

Material And Methods: Eight databases were accessed until May 2020 for interventional studies which evaluated CRP levels in hemodialysis patients before and after periodontal treatment. Inclusion criteria were studies involving hemodialysis patients with gingivitis or periodontitis, without restriction of year, language, and publication status.

Practitioner-led, peer-group sports intervention combined with a context-focused intervention for children with cerebral palsy: a protocol of a feasibility randomised clinical trial.

Background: There is a need to investigate relevant, acceptable and feasible approaches that promote participation in leisure-time physical activity for children with cerebral palsy (CP). The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of a randomised controlled trial comparing a peer-group intervention focused on improving physical literacy (Sports Stars) with the combination of Sports Stars and a context-focused intervention (Pathways and Resources for Engagement and Participation, PREP) for ambulant children with CP in Brazil.

A cross-sectional study was carried out in eight philanthropic Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) located in the metropolitan area of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The participants were individuals aged 60 years or older who were present in the institutions at the time of data collection.

This review is an authorized literal translation of the Brazilian Society of Diabetes (SBD) Guidelines 2021-2022, which is based on scientific evidence and provides guidance on physical activities and exercises aimed at individuals with type 1 and 2 diabetes.

Background: High frequency (1-2 times per day) low-intensity blood flow restriction (BFR) training has been recommended as a prescription approach for short durations of time to maximize relevant physiological adaptations. However, some studies demonstrate negative physiological changes after short periods of high-frequency BFR training, including prolonged strength decline and muscle fiber atrophy.

Objectives: To provide a comprehensive overview of short-term, high-frequency blood flow restriction training, including main adaptations, myocellular stress, limitations in the literature, and future perspectives.

Background: Mechanical factors are primary complications that justify early removal of a peripherally inserted central catheter, and thrombotic catheter occlusion is the most critical mechanical complication associated with loss of device functionality. Studies have investigated these factors in adult patients, but findings are not directly applicable to newborns. Therefore, systematic reviews focusing on this population are necessary for consolidated evidence to aid clinical practice.

Gingival rhabdomyosarcoma mimicking a non-neoplastic proliferative lesion: A diagnostic challenge.

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is a soft tissue sarcoma that develops from skeletal striated muscle cells. RMSs are exceedingly rare in the oral cavity, particularly in the gingiva. Herein, we reported the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of a rare case of RMS in a 30-year-old female presenting clinically as a painful polypoid nodule on the mandibular gingiva.
