The objective of this review was to explore the trends and chemical characteristics of acridines and their derivatives, analyze their contribution to the scientific literature and international cooperation, identify the most influential authors and articles, and provide an overview of the knowledge produced in elucidating their mechanisms of action. To this end, a bibliometric analysis was performed using RStudio software, along with a systematic review focusing on articles indexed in the "Web of Science" and "Scopus" databases. The keywords used were "acridine$", "Synthesi$", "Structure$", and "Biologic* Application$" for the period from 2020 to 2024.

Health care systems are confronted with an increasing burden of (multi-)morbidity and a shortfall of healthcare providers. Coordination and continuity of care in chronic and multi-morbid patient is especially important. As qualitative patient experience data within care processes is scarce, we aim to increase the understanding of chronically ill patient's perspectives by assessing patient experiences in different health systems while treated in primary care.

Fibrinolytic enzymes are promising in treating cardiovascular diseases due to their capacity to dissolve blood clots. The fibrinolytic enzyme from Arthrospira platensis (FEAP) was purified by ion exchange chromatography to investigate its ability to activate plasminogen, as well as its thrombolytic and fibrinogenolytic potential. Subsequently, two different cytotoxic assays (MTT and NR) and hemolysis test were performed to evaluate FEAP's safety.

The microencapsulation of Lactocaseibacillus rhamnosus GG in a matrix of sodium alginate, xanthan gum, gum arabic and chitosan hydrochloride is a promising strategy for protecting this probiotic during passage through the gastrointestinal tract. This study evaluated the influence on the viability of Lactocaseibacillus rhamnosus GG encapsulated with these polymers by external ionic gelation with vibratory extrusion and the microcapsules that showed the best results of capsulation efficiency, viability, size and morphology were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal analysis (TGA) and exposure to environmental stress conditions and gastrointestinal simulation. The result revealed encapsulation efficiency values above 95 % for all formulations and survival rate higher than 6 log CFU/mL for most analyzed groups.

New leishmanicidal products are needed for the treatment to be effective, since current drugs are toxic to healthy human/animal cells and have low efficacy against the parasite. Bioactive compounds from microalgae, such as lectins, can be explored as new anti-Leishmania candidates. This study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic and anti-Leishmania action of the cell extract (CE) and lectin (CVU) from Chlorella vulgaris biomass.

Purpose: The International Continence Society and the International Urogynecological Association have not yet standardized the definition of de novo stress urinary incontinence. Recent studies define the development of stress urinary incontinence as occurring after surgical repair of pelvic organ prolapse in previously continent women. The mechanisms that cause de novo stress urinary incontinence are not yet clear.

The poor healing of diabetic wounds is characterized by prolonged inflammation and decreased collagen deposition. Diabetic patients exhibit changes in the plasma concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and the role of specific dressings may have an impact on healing. This study aims to evaluate the effects of a combined treatment comprising a bacterial cellulose dressing and melatonin application on the regulation and expression of inflammatory cytokines, VEGF, PCNA, and collagen in the healing of cutaneous wounds of diabetic rats.

Flavonoids are secondary metabolites that exhibit remarkable biological activities, including antimicrobial properties against , a pathogen responsible for several serious nosocomial infections. However, oral administration of these compounds faces considerable challenges, such as low bioavailability and chemical instability. Thus, the encapsulation of flavonoids in nanosystems emerges as a promising strategy to mitigate these limitations, offering protection against degradation; greater solubility; and, in some cases, controlled and targeted release.
