This review assesses the feasibility of reusing treated wastewater for irrigation in agricultural soils as a strategy for nutrients recycling and mitigation of CO emissions. Through a literature review, it was examined wastewater sources enriched with carbon and nutrients, including municipal wastewater and associated sludge, vinasse, swine wastewater, as well as wastewater from the food industry and paper and pulp production. The review also explores the dynamics of organic matter within the soil, discussing the aspects related to its potential conversion to CO or long-term storage.

S-Limonene (s-Lim) is a monocyclic monoterpene found in a variety of plants and has been shown to present antioxidant and cardioprotective activity in experimental models of myocardial infarction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential mechanism by which s-Lim exerts its antiarrhythmic effect, focusing on the blockade of β-adrenoceptor (β-AR) and its effects on various in vivo and in vitro parameters, including electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements, left ventricular developed pressure (LVDP), the β-adrenergic pathway, sarcomeric shortening and L-type calcium current (I). In isolated hearts, 10 μM of s-Lim did not alter the ECG profile or LVPD.

Although diphtheria is a vaccine-preventable disease, numerous cases are still reported around the world, as well as outbreaks in countries, including European ones. Species of the Corynebacterium diphtheriae complex are potentially toxigenic and, therefore, must be considered given the possible consequences, such as the circulation of clones and transmission of antimicrobial resistance and virulence genes. Background: The Parkinson's Disease-Cognitive Rating Scale (PD-CRS) is a widely used tool for detecting mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in Parkinson's Disease (PD) patients, however, the neuroanatomical underpinnings of this test's outcomes require clarification. This study aims to: (a) investigate cortical volume (CVol) and cortical thickness (CTh) disparities between PD patients exhibiting mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI) and those with preserved cognitive abilities (PD-IC); and (b) identify the structural correlates in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of overall PD-CRS performance, including its subtest scores, within a non-demented PD cohort.
