The dynamics and responses to mulching management processes, which affect sustainability in tropical agroecosystems, remain poorly understood. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate and distinguish the short-and long-term effects of mulch of leguminous biomass on fertility of a tropical soil enriched with calcium. This experiment was conducted using the treatments: Long-term mulching (LTM) consisted of planting without mulch in 2019 in soil that had been mulched for six years previously, while short-term mulching (STM) consisted of planting without mulch for six years and with mulch only in 2019.

With the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination, it has been possible to observe the potential side effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, with the most common ones being fever, myalgia, headache, and fatigue. However, an association has been observed between new and recurrent kidney injuries, mainly glomerulonephritis and lupus nephritis associated with ANCA, with the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, Sinovac, and AstraZeneca vaccines, although the relationship between them is not clear. We report a case of ANCA-related vasculitis and lupus glomerulonephritis after the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Despite the successful use of the radiopharmaceutical radium-223 dichloride ([Ra]RaCl) for targeted alpha therapy of castration-resistant prostate cancer patients with bone metastases, some short-term side effects, such as diarrhea and vomiting, have been documented, causing patient discomfort. Hence, we prepared a nanosized micellar solution of [Ra]RaCl and evaluated its biodistribution, pharmacokinetics, and induced biochemical changes in healthy mice up to 96 h after intraperitoneal administration as an alternative to overcome the previous limitations. In addition, we evaluated the bone specificity of micellar [Ra]RaCl in patient-derived xenografts in the osteosarcoma model.

In this paper, novel mixed Tutton salts with the chemical formulas KMnNi(SO)(HO) and KMnCu(SO)(HO) were synthesized and studied as compounds for thermochemical heat storage potential. In this work, we describe a novel ruthenium-xanthoxylin complex, [Ru(phen)(xant)](PF) (RXC), that can eliminate colorectal cancer (CRC) stem cells by targeting the chaperone Hsp90. RXC exhibits potent cytotoxicity in cancer cell lines and primary cancer cells, causing apoptosis in HCT116 CRC cells, as observed by cell morphology, YO-PRO-1/PI staining, internucleosomal DNA fragmentation, mitochondrial depolarization, and PARP cleavage (Asp214). Additionally, RXC can downregulate the HSP90AA1 and HSP90B1 genes and the expression of HSP90 protein, as well as the expression levels of its downstream/client elements Akt1, Akt (pS473), mTOR (pS2448), 4EBP1 (pT36/pT45), GSK-3β (pS9), and NF-κB p65 (pS529), implying that these molecular chaperones can be molecular targets for RXC.

This work aimed to report ticks infesting the wildlife among 15 municipalities of the state of Espírito Santo between 2016 and 2021, within the Atlantic Forest biome of southeastern Brazil. A total of 576 tick specimens (187 males, 56 females, 149 nymphs, and 184 larvae) was collected from 41 species of wild vertebrates (two reptiles, nine mammals, and 30 birds). Ticks were identified by morphological or molecular methods into 18 species, being 12, four, one and one of the genera Amblyomma, Ixodes, Rhipicephalus and Ornithodoros, respectively.
