Purpose: Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies were performed on healthy individuals to establish signal intensity thresholds for reproducible left atrial (LA) patchy LGE detection. Using established criteria, differences in LA patchy LGE between healthy volunteers (HV) and patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) or hypertension were analyzed.
Methods: Fifty-three patents with AF (mean age 56 years, 60% men), 25 patients with hypertension and no history of AF (mean age 54 years, 40% men), and 28 HV (mean age 50 years, 52% men) were enrolled in an observational, non-interventional, case-control prospective study.

Current biomarkers allow diagnosing a wide array of pathological processes and evaluating effects of therapies and prognosis for cardiological patients. This review focuses on a possibility of using N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), soluble suppressor of tumorigenicity 2 (sST2), galectin-3, and other biomarkers in patients with chronic heart failure for evaluating the risk of life-threatening ventricular tachyarrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Background: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and one of inhibitors of P2Y12 receptors (clopidogrel, ticagrelor, prasugrel) is an international standard of receptors (clopidogrel, ticagrelor, prasugrel) is an international standard of is an international standard of treatment strategy in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Purpose: to analyze experience of prasugrel use in the National Medical Cardiology Research Center in comparison to similar groups of patients treated with other P2Y12 inhibitors for determination of optimal place of DAPT with prasugrel in ACS patients. Materials and methods.
Oxidatively modified low-density lipoproteins (oxLDL) play an important role in the occurrence and progression of atherosclerosis. To identify the genetic factors influencing the oxLDL levels, we have genotyped 776 DNA samples of Russian individuals for 196,725 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) using the Cardio-MetaboChip (Illumina, USA) and conducted genome-wide association study (GWAS). Fourteen common variants in the locus including APOB gene were significantly associated with the oxLDL levels (P < 2.

The review illuminated actual issues of the diagnostic efficiency of computed tomography (CT) of the coronary arteries in the planning of the procedure percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with chronic occlusion of coronary arteries (CTO). The results of researches of detection of predictors of unsuccessful recanalization according to traditional coronary angiography (CAG) and CT angiography were presented. The major CT characteristics of the CTO, which can supplement the coronary angiography data to predict outcomes of the PCI were discussed.
