In the reported study we prepared gallic acid modified γ-AlOOH nanoparticles. We proposed mechanism of phenolic compounds binding on the alumina, suggesting covalent and electrostatic interactions. Most of the properties of alumina nanoparticles (NPs) are unchanged, but there is partial reduction of surface charge.

Article Synopsis
  • Soil organisms, particularly nematodes, play a vital role in ecosystem functioning, but detailed models of their distribution are scarce.
  • A study analyzed 6,759 georeferenced samples to map global nematode abundance, revealing around 4.4 trillion nematodes in surface soils, with the highest concentrations found in sub-Arctic regions.
  • These findings enhance our understanding of soil fertility and could improve global biogeochemical models, aiding predictions of nutrient cycling in changing climates.

There is no clear understanding of microevolutionary changes in natural populations of plants and animals due to anthropogenic contamination of the environment with toxicants and mutagens. But such data are necessary to forecast long-term effects of human activity. In this research, we studied genetic polymorphism in T.

The use of carbohydrates as cryoprotectants is increasing. In this study the effects of incorporating polysaccharides extracted from plants and microalgae originating in northern Russia, into cryoprotectant solutions used to preserve human white blood cells were investigated. Cells in the presence of the polysaccharides were cooled to either -40°C or -80°C, using a two-step cooling process.
