The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the main production area of ssp. (Rha) and (Tib), but studies on the types and contents of soluble sugars, organic acids, free phenolics, bound phenolics, vitamin C (V), tocopherol (V) and carotenoids of the two sea buckthorn berries from this region have not been reported. In this paper, we found that the soluble sugars in Rha and Tib were mainly glucose and fructose; Rha exhibited a higher content of total sugar and fructose compared to Tib.

The effect of PARP1 knockout in HEK293 cells on the gene expression of DNA base excision repair (BER) proteins was studied. It was shown that the expression of all differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of BER was reduced by knockout. The expression of the DNA glycosylase gene NEIL1, which is considered to be one of the common "hubs" for binding BER proteins, has changed the most.

The use of cancer chemotherapy sensitizers is a promising approach to induce the effect of clinically used anticancer treatments. One of the interesting targets is Tyrosyl-DNA Phosphodiesterase 1 (Tdp1), a DNA-repair enzyme, that may prevent the action of clinical Topoisomerase 1 (Top1) inhibitors, such as topotecan (Tpc). Tdp1 eliminates covalent Top1-DNA (Top1c) complexes that appear under the action of topotecan and determines the cytotoxic effect of this drug.

We studied the effect of the C1473G polymorphism in the Tph2 gene that reduces the activity of the tryptophan hydroxylase 2 in the brain on the severity of changes in motor activity (23 h after intraperitoneal administration of 0.8 mg/kg LPS or saline) and on the level of serotonin (5-HT) and its metabolite 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) in the endings of 5-HT neurons in the cortex, hippocampus, and striatum (24 h after administration) of mature male mice of congenic lines B6-1473CC (high activity) and B6-1473GG (low activity). The state of the immune system in these structures was assessed by the expression of genes for proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β and TNF.

Detection and precise genomic mapping of balanced chromosomal abnormalities in patients with impaired fertility or a clinical phenotype represent a challenge for current cytogenomics owing to difficulties with precise breakpoint localization in the regions enriched for DNA repeats and high genomic variation in such regions. Here, we present a comprehensive cytogenomic approach to breakpoint mapping in a rare paracentric inversion on 10q (in a patient with oligoasthenoteratozoospermia and necrozoospermia) that does not affect other phenotype traits. Multicolor banding, chromosomal microarray analysis, chromosome microdissection with reverse painting, and single-copy sequencing of the rearranged chromosome were performed to determine the length and position of the inverted region as well as to rule out a genetic imbalance at the breakpoints.

The global and local climate changes determine the producing of highly-adaptive common (bread) wheat commercial cultivars of a new generation whose optimal earliness matches the climatic features of the territory where the cultivars are farmed. Principal component analysis involving our own and published data has been applied to investigate 98 commercial common wheat cultivars from Western and Eastern Siberia comparing their morphotypes; cultivar zoning time; length of the vegetation period; 1000-grain weight, and inheritance of spring growth habit. It demonstrated that the dominant Vrn gene polymorphism determining the spring growth habit of the Siberian cultivars was minimally polymorphic.

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play an important role in central nervous system infections. We analysed the levels of 8 different MMPs in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of 89 adult patients infected with tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus and compared them with the levels in a control group. MMP-9 was the only MMP that showed significantly increased CSF levels in TBE patients.

An homozygous mutant line of with a knocked out gene encoding thylakoid carbonic anhydrase αCA4 was created using a CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing system. The effects of the mutation were compared with those in two mutant lines obtained by the T-DNA insertion method. In αCA4 knockouts of all three lines, non-photochemical quenching of chlorophyll fluorescence was lower than in the wild type (WT) plants due to a decrease in its energy-dependent component.

A number of methods for extracting the DNA of maternally inherited obligate intracellular bacteria from an insect host and its subsequent purification have been described in previous scholarship. As is present in the hosts' organisms in rather low quantities, these techniques used to be quite labor-intensive. For this paper, we analyzed them in detail, searched for a possibility to simplify and accelerate the protocol, and proposed an easy and effective method for isolating DNA from with a purity sufficient for genomic sequencing.

Studying the effects of terahertz (THz) radiation on the proteome of temperature-sensitive organisms is limited by a number of significant technical difficulties, one of which is maintaining an optimal temperature range to avoid thermal shock as much as possible. In the case of extremophilic species with an increased temperature tolerance, it is easier to isolate the effects of THz radiation directly. We studied the proteomic response to terahertz radiation of the thermophilic , persisting under wide temperature fluctuations with a 60 °C optimum.

We studied the relationship between the level of cytokines in the lymph of the thoracic duct and the morphometric parameters of the mesenteric lymph nodes after surgical treatment of breast cancer, chemotherapy, and administration of fragmented (double-stranded, dsDNA) human DNA. In comparison with surgical treatment and with chemotherapy alone, administration of a human dsDNA has a stimulating effect on the T-cell link of the immune response. In the paracortical zone, the relationship between the chemokine MCP-1 and increased content of small lymphocytes in this zone was revealed.

Metabolomic analysis of blood plasma samples from COVID-19 patients is a promising approach allowing for the evaluation of disease progression. We performed the metabolomic analysis of plasma samples of 30 COVID-19 patients and the 19 controls using the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with tandem mass spectrometric detection (LC-MS/MS). In our analysis, we identified 103 metabolites enriched in KEGG metabolic pathways such as amino acid metabolism and the biosynthesis of aminoacyl-tRNAs, which differed significantly between the COVID-19 patients and the controls.
