This study addresses issues in developing spatially controlled magnetic fields for particle guidance, synthesizing biocompatible and chemically stable MNPs and enhancing their specificity to pathological cells through chemical modifications, developing personalized adjustments, and highlighting the potential of tumor-on-a-chip systems, which can simulate tissue environments and assess drug efficacy and dosage in a controlled setting. The research focused on two MNP types, uncoated magnetite nanoparticles (mMNPs) and carboxymethyl dextran coated superparamagnetic nanoparticles (CD-SPIONs), and evaluated their transport properties in microfluidic systems and porous media. The original uncoated mMNPs of bimodal size distribution and the narrow size distribution of the fractions (23 nm and 106 nm by radii) were demonstrated to agglomerate in magnetically driven microfluidic flow, forming a stable stationary web consisting of magnetic fibers within 30 min.

In the current work, we aimed to evaluate the association of clinical data of Cushing's disease (CD) patients with mutation status and to study USP8-related molecular mechanisms connected to the regulation of corticotropinoma growth and activity. 35 CD patients were enrolled; the sequencing of exon 14 in revealed variants in eighteen adenomas, two of which were described for the first time in CD. variants were more common in women (94% vs.

Background: Parathyroid tumors are classified as parathyroid neuroendocrine neoplasia (NEN) by the IARC-WHO classification. These tumors can occur with NENs from other sites, which often require total-body [68Ga]-DOTA-peptides PET/CT. This study aimed to assess the utility of [68Ga]-DOTA-peptide PET/CT in imaging parathyroid NENs and to evaluate the underlying mechanisms.

The design of fast, endurant, and biocompatible porous frameworks with solvatochromism, aimed to addressing the multiple visual sensing of chemicals, still remains a challenge. Here, we report on a solvatochromic metal-organic framework (MOF) based on cobalt and trimesic acid. We examined its solvatochromism through the solvent exchange and revealed high selectivity to water/dimethylformamide combination.

This work presents the method of synthesis and physicochemical characterization of isothiourea and cinnamic acid original derivative α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamate 1-cyclohexanoy-l-2-ethylisothiourea (T1114). In studies of the cytotoxic and antitumor activity of T1114, it has been found that the combination in one molecular structure of NOS-inhibitory fragment (1-cyclohexanoyl-2-ethylisothiourea) and a fragment inhibiting monocarboxylate lactate transporters (MCT) (α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid) does not modify the cytotoxic activity of bifunctional NOS/MCT-inhibitor T1114 in vitro. But in vivo inhibition of NOS and MCT is able to realize effects on the tumor microenvironment and hypoxic tumor cells.

The effects of the interaction of optical radiation and biological tissues underlie various optical diagnostics technologies, including laser Doppler flowmetry, diffuse reflection spectroscopy, fluorescent spectroscopy, photodynamic diagnostics (fluorescent cystoscopy), confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography, etc. The efficiency of these technologies is the subject of study in various fields of medicine, such as dermatology and ophthalmology, anesthesiology and cardiac surgery, in the diagnosis of malignant tumors and others. In the first part of our review, the available data on the feasibility of using laser Doppler flowmetry and diffuse reflection spectroscopy as a diagnostic tool in urological practice are reviewed and systematized.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a global medical concern and has a lasting impact on brain activity with high risks of mortality. Current treatments are inadequate for repairing damaged brain cells or correcting cognitive and behavioral disabilities in TBI patients. Mounting evidence links TBI to the activation of the Integrated Stress Response (ISR) signaling in the brain.

Pericarditis as an inflammatory heart disease is rarely discussed in the cardiology community. The latest European guidelines on pericarditis were published in 2015, and Russian clinical guidelines are dated 2022. However, in recent years, a number of publications have appeared that have forced the scientific community to take a fresh look at this problem.

The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of a cell-containing wound dressing based on fibroblasts in hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) gel for the local treatment of deep partial-thickness and/or full-thickness skin burns in an animal model. The rats (male Wistar, n = 100) were subjected to a full-thickness thermal burn (16 cm). Radical necrectomy was performed one day after the burn.

Despite the achievements of modern medicine, tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of mortality globally. The difficulties in differential diagnosis have particular relevance in the case of suspicion of tuberculosis with other granulomatous diseases. The most similar clinical and radiologic changes are sarcoidosis.

Antihistaminic drugs are widely used clinically and have long been primarily known for their use to treat severe allergic conditions caused by histamine release. Antihistaminic drugs also exert central nervous system (CNS) effects, acting as anxiolytics, hypnotics, and neuroleptics. However, these drugs also have multiple serious neuropharmacological side-effects, inducing delirium, hyperarousal, disorganized behavior, and hallucinations.

Anxiety can be a protective emotion when animals face aversive conditions, but is commonly associated with various neuropsychiatric disorders when pathologically exacerbated. Drug repurposing has emerged as a valuable strategy based on utilizing the existing pharmaceuticals for new therapeutic purposes. Ketamine, traditionally used as an anesthetic, acts as a non-competitive antagonist of the glutamate N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, and shows potential anxiolytic and antidepressant effects at subanesthetic doses.

We studied the function of the auditory system in Wistar rats after repeated intravenous administration of nicotinamide riboside (NR). The functional activity of the receptor and retrocochlear parts of the auditory system were assessed by recording short-latency auditory evoked potentials (SLAEPs) and distortion-product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) at baseline, immediately after NR administration, and 1 and 2 months later. Repeated intravenous NR administration (cumulative dose of 2700 mg/kg) to Wistar rats has a detrimental impact on the structures within the cochlear section of the auditory system.

Glioblastomas (GBMs) are the most malignant and intractable of all cancers, with an unfavorable clinical prognosis for affected patients. The objective was to analyze the sensitivity of GBM cells to the antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) cathelicidin (LL-37) and protegrin-1 (PG-1), both alone and in combination with chemotherapy, to predict overall survival (OS) in the patients. The study was conducted on 27 GBM patients treated in the neurosurgical department of the Almazov Medical Research Centre (Saint Petersburg, Russia) from 2021 to 2024.

Histiocytoses are rare diseases characterised by infiltration of affected organs by myeloid cells with a monocyte or dendritic cell phenotype. Symptoms can range from self-resolving localised forms to multisystemic lesions requiring specific treatment. To demonstrate extremely rare cases of CD68-negative cardiac histiocytosis with expression of SARS-CoV-2 antigen in infiltrate cells.
