In a dynamic healthcare landscape, graduates in healthcare enter a field that is filled with change and uncertainty. Educators, seeking to prepare students to meet the demands of this change from a clinical perspective, must prepare students for adapting to the healthcare market. Entrepreneurship education prepares the student to adapt to such changes.

Despite the availability of secure electronic data transfers, most medical information is still stored on paper, and it is usually shared by mail, fax or the patients themselves. Today's technologies aim to the challenge of sharing healthcare information, since exchanging inaccurate data leads to inefficiency and errors. Currently, there exist numerous techniques for exchanging data, which however require continuous internet connection, thus lacking generic applicability in healthcare, in the cases where no internet connection is available.

An unsolved challenge in developing molecular representation is determining an optimal method to characterize the molecular structure. Comprehension of intramolecular interactions is paramount toward achieving this goal. In this study, ComABAN, a new graph-attention-based approach, is proposed to improve the accuracy of molecular representation by simultaneously considering atom-atom, bond-bond and atom-bond interactions.

Background: Malnutrition or its risk affects up to 70% of cancer patients. Compared to adequately nourished oncology patients, those with malnutrition experience more complications and have poorer prognoses, thus higher needs for healthcare. We compared utilization of emergency department (ED) services and costs for Medicare-covered cancer patients with or without a malnutrition diagnosis.

Arabinoxylans of commelinid monocots are characterized by high contents of ferulic acid that is incorporated into arabinose-bearing side-chains of varying complexity. Species-related differences in the feruloylated side-chain profiles of grain arabinoxylans are observed and lead to differences in arabinoxylan functionality. Here, a semi-quantitative assay based on H-C-correlation NMR spectroscopy (HSQC experiment) was developed to profile feruloylated side-chains of cereal grain arabinoxylans.

The underlying processes occurring in aging are complex, involving numerous biological changes that result in chronic cellular stress and sterile inflammation. One of the main hallmarks of aging is senescence. While originally the term senescence was defined in the field of oncology, further research has established that also microglia, astrocytes and neurons become senescent.

As the focus of Alzheimer's disease (AD) therapeutic development shifts to the early stages of the disease, the clinical endpoints used in drug trials, and how these might translate into clinical practice, are of increasing importance. The clinical meaningfulness of trial outcome measures is often unclear, with a lack of conclusive evidence as to how these measures correlate to changes in disease progression and treatment response. Clarifying this would benefit all, including patients, care partners, primary care providers, regulators, and payers, and would enhance our understanding of the relationship between clinical trial endpoints and assessments used in everyday practice.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) are heterogeneous in their clinical presentation and underlying pathology, but they often have overlapping features. Diagnostic accuracy is critical for guiding patient management. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diagnostic assays for the differentiation of AD and FTLD may increase diagnostic accuracy.

Opioid use has much increased in several countries during the last two decades, accompanied by a rise in associated morbidity and mortality, especially in the United States. Data on a possible opioid crisis are scarcer in Europe. Background: Previous frailty studies found higher prevalence of frailty in female than in male participants. This was mainly attributed to the fact that compared to men, women show increased longevity. Recent studies have reported that the observed difference between sexes applies irrespectively of the age of older people.
