Background: In the context of injectable biologic products approved or in development for chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), it is important to capture which treatment attributes matter most to patient and what trade-offs patients are willing to make.
Objectives: The CHOICE-CSU study aimed to quantify patient preferences toward injectable treatment attributes among patients with CSU, inadequately controlled by H1-antihistamines.
Methods: This was a two-phase cross-sectional patient preference study in adult patients with a diagnosis of CSU, inadequately controlled by H1-antihistamines.

Introduction: Lack of social support negatively impacts medical trainees' wellness. Programmes to educate medical trainees and their support persons (SPs) have been developed to improve resident wellness, but implementation of these programmes at other institutions remains unclear. We aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing the Family Anesthesia Experience (FAX) programme across multiple institutions and to assess the programme's utility.

Purpose: To validate the presence of residual non-emulsified silicone oil (SO) following conventional surgical removal techniques used in vitreoretinal surgery and provide insights for optimizing surgical parameters and reducing subsequent emulsification-related complications.
Methods: The two surgical steps of repeated fluid-air exchange (FAX), including aspiration and infusion, were simulated in vitro to investigate their effectiveness in removing residual non-emulsified SO under various clinical settings. Aspiration was performed at three different positions with respect to the SO interface (i.

Importance: Intrinsic capacity (IC), defined by the World Health Organization's Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) framework, is crucial for promoting healthy aging. Understanding the associations between IC impairments and age-related biomarkers can provide insights into the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and potential interventions.
Objective: To investigate the associations between IC impairments (ICOPE step 1 and step 2, respectively) and aging-related biomarkers, including inflammatory and cardiometabolic markers, in community-dwelling middle-aged and older adults.

Background: Prevalence, correlates and outcomes of respiratory failure (RF) were never studied in large populations of older patients hospitalized in acute care medical settings. Little is known about the possible association between RF and delirium, and whether these two syndromes, alone or in combination, may affect short-term mortality.
Objectives: To investigate prevalence and features of RF, the association between delirium and RF, and their effect on short-term mortality.

Background: Handgrip strength (HGS) is a crucial measurement for diagnosing sarcopenia, and HGS asymmetry indicates functional impairment and correlates with adverse health outcomes. Although chronic low back pain (CLBP) often coexists with sarcopenia in older people, the association between HGS asymmetry and sarcopenia in that population has not been investigated.
Objectives: This study examines the association between HGS asymmetry and sarcopenia in older patients with CLBP and explores differences in the proportion of sarcopenia and severe sarcopenia according to the severity of HGS asymmetry.

Despite evidence linking the gut microbiome to neuropathic pain (NP), it is not known if altering gut microbiota can alleviate NP via the microbiome-gut-brain axis. This study examined if healthy gut microbiota of sham male rats (Sham+V) and dysbiotic gut microbiota of NP rats (spinal nerve ligation: NP, SNL+V) can be disrupted and restored, respectively, via fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) from the opposite group [Sham+(SNL-FMT) and SNL+(Sham-FMT), respectively]. All groups received FMT daily for two weeks, followed by three weeks without FMT.

Background: This study investigates the synergistic relationship between blood low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and cerebral beta-amyloid (Aβ) in relation to tau deposition, a key factor in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD), in older adults across a diverse cognitive spectrum.
Objectives: To examine whether higher levels of LDL-C in the blood moderate the association of cerebral Aβ with tau deposition in older adults, including those with normal cognition, mild cognitive impairment, and Alzheimer's disease dementia.
Design: Cross-sectional design.
