Aims: Which is the best extensile lateral (ELA) or sinus tarsi (STA) approach for osteosynthesis displaced intraarticular calcaneal fracture (DIACF) is still debatable. The current RCT's primary objective was to compare the complications incidence after open reduction and internal fixation of DIACFs through STA vs. ELA.

Background: Easily accessible and self-administered cognitive assessments that can aid early detection for Alzheimer's disease (AD) dementia risk are critical for timely intervention.
Objectives/design: This cross-sectional study investigated continuous associations between Mayo Test Drive (MTD) - a remote, self-administered, multi-device compatible, web-based cognitive assessment - and AD-related imaging biomarkers.
Participants/setting: 684 adults from the Mayo Clinic Study of Aging and Mayo Clinic Alzheimer's Disease Research Center participated (age=70.

Background: Primary results from the Anti-Amyloid in Asymptomatic Alzheimer's disease Study (A4) suggested no benefit of solanezumab on its primary cognitive outcome, a composite of paper and pencil tests (the Preclinical Alzheimer's Cognitive Composite; PACC).
Objective: To determine whether change in cognitive performance, assessed using the Computerized Cognitive Composite (C3) summary score and C3 individual tests, differed between treatment groups over 240 weeks, differed based on baseline Aβ burden, and tracked with PACC decline.
Design: Longitudinal analysis of cognitive change over 240 weeks on the C3 Summary Score and C3 individual tests between participants randomly assigned to solanezumab at a dose of up to 1600 mg intravenously every 4 weeks versus placebo.

We estimated the total life expectancy (TLE), frailty-free life expectancy (FFLE), frail life expectancy (FLE), pre-frail life expectancy (PFLE), and FLE with and without disability among 2,000 Mexican Americans aged ≥67 years over an 18-year period. Frailty was defined as the presence of ≥2 criteria (weight loss, weakness, self-reported exhaustion, slowness). We used the Markov chain method to estimate the TLE, FFLE, FLE, PFLE, and FLE with and without disability by age and gender.

The relationship of baseline frailty with subsequent patient-reported outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains unclear. We assessed these associations in a pilot prospective cohort study. Frailty based on the FRAIL scale and the Fried phenotype and patient-reported outcomes, namely Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System computerized adaptive tests and Valued Life Activities disability, were measured at baseline and 1 year among women aged 18-70 years with SLE enrolled at a single center.

The additive engineering strategy promotes the efficiency of solution-processed perovskite solar cells (PSCs) over 25%. However, compositional heterogeneity and structural disorders occur in perovskite films with the addition of specific additives, making it imperative to understand the detrimental impact of additives on film quality and device performance. In this work, the double-edged sword effects of the methylammonium chloride (MACl) additive on the properties of methylammonium lead mixed-halide perovskite (MAPbI Cl ) films and PSCs are demonstrated.

The underlying processes occurring in aging are complex, involving numerous biological changes that result in chronic cellular stress and sterile inflammation. One of the main hallmarks of aging is senescence. While originally the term senescence was defined in the field of oncology, further research has established that also microglia, astrocytes and neurons become senescent.

Increasing evidence proposes diet as a notable modifiable factor and viable target for the reduction of Alzheimer's Disease risk and age-related cognitive decline. However, assessment of dietary exposures is challenged by dietary capture methods that are prone to misreporting and measurement errors. The utility of -omics technologies for the evaluation of dietary exposures has the potential to improve reliability and offer new insights to pre-disease indicators and preventive targets in cognitive aging and dementia.

Objective: To increase the pediatricians' awareness of this multifaceted group of primary immunodeficiencies in children.
