Purpose: To evaluate the thicknesses of the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), ganglion cell complex (GCL), and choroid layer using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) for investigating the effects of vascular changes on the eye and optic nerve in patients who have migraine with aura.

Methods: Forty-five patients who had migraine with aura (migraine group) and 45 healthy individuals (control group) were enrolled in the study. Age, gender, duration after migraine diagnosis, intraocular pressure, and axial length measurements were recorded in each case.

Background: We aimed to estimate the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and to determine the relationship between GFR with C-reactive protein (CRP) and uric acid.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, one-hundred and forty PCOS women and 60 healthy subjects were evaluated. The study was carried out at Endocrinol- ogy Outpatient Clinic, Erzurum Training and Research Hospital, Erzurum, Turkey, from December 2010 to January 2011.

Purpose: To report the long-term results of corneal collagen crosslinking (CXL) treatment for post-laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) ectasia.

Settings: Turkiye Hospital Eye Clinic and Fatih University Medical Faculty, Department of Ophthalmology, Istanbul, Turkey.

Purpose: To report the long-term results of intrastromal corneal ring segments (ICRS) for postoperative LASIK ectasia.

Method: In this retrospective interventional cases series, 8 eyes of 6 patients who underwent femtosecond laser-assisted ICRS implantation for post-LASIK ectasia were enrolled. Main outcome measures were uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), spherical equivalent refraction, and average keratometry (Kavg) values were assessed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the long-term effectiveness of combining intrastromal corneal ring segment placement with corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) in patients experiencing ectasia after LASIK surgery.
  • Sixteen eyes from 14 patients were treated, showing significant improvements in uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity, as well as reductions in both spherical and cylindrical refraction after an average follow-up of 43 months.
  • No serious complications were observed, indicating that this combined treatment approach is both safe and effective for managing postoperative LASIK ectasia.

Various hormonal parameters and the best logistic regression model to predict disease probability were evaluated in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Concentrations of LH, FSH, LH/FSH ratio, testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG and insulin in serum were recorded in 32 women with PCOS and in 25 controls. A model including LH/FSH ratio, insulin and testosterone measurements yielded the best goodness of fit for classification of women with and without PCOS in the logistic regression analysis.

Using fetal ultrasonography, disorders of developmental delay and congenital malformations are promptly diagnosed. Skeletal abnormalities are relatively easy to notice once standards of growth are established. The iliac bone is frequently affected in skeletal problems, yet it has not been extensively studied.
