A case series of emphysematous pyelonephritis in COVID-positive patients.

Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a rare infectious disease affecting the renal and perirenal tissues, wherein gas formation occurs in the renal parenchyma, perinephric tissues, or collecting systems. It can be life threatening with mortality rates upto 60%. Here, we report a case series of EPN during the COVID pandemic with COVID test-positive patients who were diagnosed based on clinical signs, symptoms, and CT scans.

Ganglioneuroma of the Cervical Sympathetic Chain - A Rare Occurrence.

This article deals with a rare occurrence of Ganglioneuroma of the left cervical sympathetic chain in a 9-year-old girl, presenting with painless paracervical swelling noticed since 7 months. Imaging studies showed a left parapharyngeal mass extending from C1 to C6, displacing the posterior pharyngeal wall and anterolaterally displacing the contents of the carotid sheath, with no significant vascular feeders. A provisional diagnosis of? Neurogenic tumour was established and the patient underwent surgical excision.

Information was collected on characteristics of problem, timing, manufacturer verdict, successful completion of planned surgery, prolonged anaesthesia and injury to patient or staff.

Background And Aims: South Asian countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and Bangladesh, have a high prevalence of pulmonary and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB). This prevalence is influenced by various risk factors such as ethnicity, nutrition, socioeconomic disparities, high out-of-pocket healthcare expenses, and specific Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (TB) lineages. The COVID-19 pandemic has likely hindered access to healthcare and led to under-reporting of EPTB cases nationally and internationally.

Impact of achieving euthyroidism on pulmonary artery systolic pressures in hyperthyroidism-associated pulmonary hypertension - a systematic review.

In this systematic review, we seek to clarify the impact of treatment of hyperthyroidism on pulmonary hypertension in patients with both these conditions. We included 39 of 709 articles retrieved, that studied patients with hyperthyroidism and pulmonary hypertension (PH). From these, those with a documented pre-treatment Pulmonary Artery Systolic Pressure (PASP) > 35 mmHg and complete follow up were analyzed, yielding 3 case series and 22 case reports with a total of 81 cases.

Organising an offline conference during a pandemic is a challenge and is possible if the participating crowd is vaccinated and is willing to follow appropriate pandemic protocols.
