The first step to reducing the growing burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is to find modifiable risk factors with the highest burden in each population. Urban and rural citizens may have different priorities in this regard. This study aimed to compare the 10-year incidence probability of CVD events and its associated risk factors between rural and urban areas in Iran.

[Lu]Lu-DOTATATE is a newly trending acceptable therapy in recurrent/residual meningioma with good safety. However, recognizing any possible side effects in this special population would be helpful for better management and individualization of this useful treatment. Although the seizure has been previously reported in a few cases after [Lu]Lu-DOTATATE therapy in recurrent meningioma, the acute onset of seizure in these patients, early after therapeutic radioligand administration, is not reported to the best of our knowledge.

Long non-coding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) have been implicated as possible circulating stroke indicators. This study focused on the expression status of antisense non-coding ribonucleic acid in the INK4 locus (ANRIL) and myocardial infarction associated transcript (MIAT) in patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). In this study, fifty patients with CVT and one hundred age/gender-matched individuals as controls were included.

Background: The relationship between inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) and COVID-19 severity and incidence rates remains unclear due to limited and diverse data. This study aimed to address this gap by identifying specific IEIs associated with an increased risk of severe COVID-19 or a predisposition to severe disease before vaccination.
Materials And Methods: Data were collected from the medical records of 15 patients with various IEIs, supplemented by interviews with individuals from an IEIs registry who had experienced COVID-19 before vaccination.

Objective: Today, air medical services play a key part in providing emergency medical services in accidents and disasters in many countries, including Iran. The present study aims to investigate the barriers to air medical services in accidents and disasters in Iran and suggest solutions to them.
Results: Analysis of the qualitative data resulted in extraction of 84 codes, which were classified into 13 subcategories and eventually into four themes, namely planning, management of resources, updating procedures, and empowerment of human resources.

The antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation by bacterial pathogens has led to failure in infections elimination. This study aimed to assess the antibacterial and anti-biofilm properties of novel synthesized nitroimidazole compounds (8a-8o). In this study, nitroimidazole compounds were synthesized via the A3 coupling reaction of sample substrates in the presence of copper-doped silica cuprous sulfate (CDSCS).

Objective: This study aimed to explore the potential protective effects of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell secretome (ASE) on oxidative stress triggered by Bisphenol-A (BisA) exposure in testicular mitochondria and sperm quality of rats.
Methods: Testicular tissue mitochondria and sperms were exposed to BisA (8 μM) and ASE (50 or 100 μg). ∆Ψm (mitochondrial membrane potential), reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, antioxidant biomarkers, and sperm parameters were measured.

Introduction: Chronic wounds continue to pose a significant global challenge, incurring substantial costs and necessitating extensive research in wound healing. Our previous work involved synthesizing zein nanofibers embedded with 5 %, 10 %, and 15 % nano-curcumin (Zein/nCUR 5, 10, and 15 % NFs), and examining their physicochemical and biological properties. This study aims to explore the potential of these nanofibers in macrophage (MØ) polarization and wound healing.

The intricate cellular process, known as the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), significantly influences solid tumors development. Changes in cell shape, metabolism, and gene expression linked to EMT facilitate tumor cell invasion, metastasis, drug resistance, and recurrence. So, a better understanding of the intricate processes underlying EMT and its role in tumor growth may lead to the development of novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment of solid tumors.

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic liver disease in human history and it is expected to surpass other causes of liver disease mortality by 2030. Therefore, finding an alternative way to diagnose steatosis in the early stage when imaging modalities are not available is crucial. This study decided to validate the optimal cut-off points and the sensitivity and specificity of the Fatty Liver Index (FLI) based on the Iranian population compared to ultrasonography.

Background: With shared modes of transmission and clinical symptoms the convergence of COVID-19 and tuberculosis (TB) might lead to reduced diagnosis and detection of TB, which is challenging for healthcare systems already strained by the pandemic's reach.
Methods: This ecological study investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on TB surveillance over the first 2 years of the pandemic (March 2020 to February 2022) in southeastern Iran. Interrupted Time Series (ITS) analysis with the quasi-Poisson regression models was used to estimate the relative risk (RR) of TB diagnosis and treatment outcome counts, stratified by gender, case definition, involvement type, and treatment outcomes.
