Assertiveness is a constructive interpersonal behavior alternative to manipulation and aggression. Medical students (MSs) have daily interpersonal interactions with colleagues, patients and families. Yet, communication deficiencies due to hesitancy to speak-up assertively lead to adverse patient outcomes.

Colonic schwannoma: A case of unusual presentation and outcome.

Aims: To i) describe the profile, the types and the severity of MEs, and ii) explore the psychological impact on "second victims" to better understand how they cope.

Background: Takotsubo syndrome is a transient stunned myocardium that typically involves the apical and mid-ventricular segments. A variant, called Inverted Takotsubo, concerns the basal and mid-ventricular segments.

Case Summary: We present a ruptured ectopic pregnancy that was responsible for a catecholamine surge, which led to this stress-induced cardiomyopathy.

Two-day seven-day course of levofloxacin in acute COPD exacerbation: a randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: Duration of antibiotic treatment in acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) is most commonly based on expert opinion. Typical administration periods range from 5 to 7 days. A 2-day course with levofloxacin was not previously assessed.

Prevalence and risk factors of functional gastrointestinal disorders in early period medical students: a pilot study in Tunisia.

Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) are highly prevalent in medical students around the world. However, there is no specific data on FGIDs in Tunisia. Acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy associated with serous retinal detachment: A case report.

We report the occurrence of serous retinal detachment (SRD) in acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE). A 22-year-old man with no general or ophthalmological pathological history presented with an acute and bilateral decreased visual acuity. There was no notion of recent flu or recent vaccination.

Outcomes and prognostic factors of patients treated for in-stent restenosis: a retrospective single-center experience.

Background: The incidence of in-stent restenosis (ISR) remains relatively common despite the use of drug-eluting stents. Outcomes and prognostic factors following ISR revascularization are still being investigated. We aimed to describe the outcomes following different ISR treatment strategies in order to identify prognostic factors associated with worse outcomes.

Motivational interviewing to improve self-management in youth with type 1 diabetes: A randomized clinical trial.

Purpose: Effective interventions are needed to help adolescents with T1D develop independent self-management skills to prevent commonly observed deterioration of disease self-management resulting in poor health outcomes. Using a prospective RCT design, we assessed the impact of a nurse-led education program based on motivational interviewing (MI) in youth with Type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Design And Methods: After parental consent and youth assent, we prospectively randomized 66 adolescents 13-18 years old with T1D to either usual care (every 3 months visit with pediatric endocrinologist) or usual care supplemented by 2 in-person and 4 follow-up phone calls with a nurse educator in a pediatric endocrinology clinic of the University Hospital Farhat Hached, Sousse, Tunisia.

Background: Malaria is the first parasitic infection endemic in the world caused by parasites species of . Cerebral malaria (CM) is a rapidly progressive and severe form of infection, characterized by a greater accumulation of red blood cells parasitized by in the brain. The diagnosis of malaria is usually made in living patients from a blood sample taken in the course of a fever on return from an endemic country, whereas CM, often associated with fatal outcomes even in treated subjects, is usually diagnosed at autopsy.

[The third version of diabetes attitude scale in arabic language: Reliability, validity and normative data].

Objective: The aim of this study was to translate and analyze the psychometric properties of the third version of the Arabic Diabetes Attitude Scale.

Methods: A methodological study of psychometric validation of the scale according to the guidelines of Vallerand cross-cultural validation was conducted. Type 1 and type 2 diabetics, aged 18 and over, without cognitive impairment or altered mental status were recruited on a convenience-sampling basis.

A challenging case of an intraorbital foreign body in a child: A case report.

Apart from congenital causes, orbital trauma is a leading cause of unilateral vision loss in children. We report the case of a 2-year-old child who was victim of an orbital trauma of the right eye caused by a ballpoint pen. He consulted us the day after the trauma with significant palpebral edema making the examination difficult.

Multiple sebaceous tumors in a 58-year-old man with colorectal cancer.

The Muir-Torre Syndrome is a rare genodermatosis, defined by the occurrence of sebaceous neoplasia and internal malignancies and caused by mutations in the mismatch repair gene. We describe the case of 58-year-old man who, over the course of several years, had multiple skin lesions and colon cancer. The syndrome was diagnosed using Sanger sequencing, which allowed us to find the causative mutation.

Validity and reliability of a modified short version of a stigma scale for use among Tunisian COVID-19 patients after quarantine: A cross-sectional study.

Background And Aim: The COVID-19 is a stigmatizing infectious disease even after healing. Until now, no COVID-19 stigma scale validated in Tunisian Arabic language among the general population is available. Developing such tools is necessary to detect COVID-19 stigma and reduce it effectively.

Background: Little is known about the relationship between arginase, an immunosuppressive enzyme, and cervical lesions. The present study is aimed at evaluating arginase activity in plasma and mRNA arginase isoforms expression in cervical cells of patients with abnormal cytology and identifying their relationship with Human papillomavirus (HPV) related parameters such as: HPV type, HPV circulating viral load and anti-HPV16 IgG.
