Introduction: Duration of antibiotic treatment in acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) is most commonly based on expert opinion. Verrucous sarcoidosis: a diagnosis to keep in mind.

Skin manifestations of sarcoidosis occur in up to 30% of cases, and may be the sentinel sign of the disease, with the skin being sometimes exclusively affected. While this may facilitate an early dermatologic diagnosis, heterogeneity in the cutaneous morphologies of sarcoidosis complicates recognition and affirms its reputation as a "great imitator". Congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 11-Beta-hydroxylase deficiency in a Tunisian family.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia refers to a group of rare genetic disorders affecting the adrenal glands. 21-hydroxylase deficiency is the most prevalent and the most studied cause while the remaining enzymatic defects are less common, accounting for less than 10% of cases. We herein described the clinical, biological and molecular characteristics and outcome of patients of the same family diagnosed with 11-Beta-hydroxylase deficiency.

The importance of using fine-needle aspiration cytology in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules.

Background: Thyroid nodules are common diseases, frequent in middle-aged women; only 5%-30% are malignant. Purpose: Glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPx-1) is a selenium-dependent detoxifying enzyme involved in the protection of cells against oxidative damage. Some genetic association studies reported significant associations between GPx-1 Pro198Leu variant and carcinogenesis across different populations; however, the impact of this variant on nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has not been explored. Therefore, the present study was planned to evaluate the potential involvement of the GPx-1 Pro198Leu variant and plasma GPx activity in the risk of developing NPC in a Tunisian population.

Pyogenic Granuloma-Like Kaposi Sarcoma: A Diagnostic Challenge.

An 81-year-old woman presented with a 2-month history of a painless nodule on the left foot that bled easily after minor trauma. She had no medical history and did not report any preexisting lesion. Physical examination revealed a 2 cm × 3 cm, exophytic and reddish-colored nodule, with an ulcerated and soft surface (Figure 1).

Inhabitual presentation of Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor of the ovary with xeroderma pigmentosum: Case report with review of literature.

Introduction: Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SLCTs) are rare sex-cord stromal tumors of the ovary. Heterologous components may be present, most commonly in the intermediate differentiated and poorly differentiated groups. Because of their scarcity, SLCTs with heterologous differentiation represent a challenge in both diagnosis and management, with limited available experience.
